Folks in TIG that are most likely to comment on matters relevant to this forum:
Mike Gapes: foreign affairs and defence

Chris Leslie: Treasury and trade

Anna Soubry: Brexit and justice (and assisting on defence)

from November 19:
a 20-pager about the future.
Mrs May is constantly referring to it.
It better be "good" then? That's the last serve in this round, before it is for the Parliament to decide (as to whether the dog's dinner, nothing... or ordering outside such a menu, is the best option).
Lidington has just indicated that in ten days such an order may have been cooked together; wait and see.

Meanwhile (no threads yet for any of the upcoming elections) looking forward and not being specific which election (first-past-the-post prunes the expressed opinions too much, though, so more for the euroelections - if they do take place):
- on the right, the protest vote will equal mainstream
- on the left it will not look too good, either, as voters will desert to a camp that expresses an opinion

A couple of winning themes (at no charge :) ):
- stop fussing (=panicking, which is not the same as caring) about climate change and focus on things like child poverty, homeless explosive numbers, grumbling education and forever longer NHS queues (receiving treatment by letter only)
- it's good to have borders, but there are many  ways to go about it
- do not try to sell to voters things that you can't even come up with a name for: customs 'mechanism' not being a CU... but eventually ending up as a "comprehensive customs arrangement". Before :!: we will start negotiating a 'comprehensive trade agreement'
Ever-lasting truths: Multi-year budgets/ planning by necessity have to address the painful questions; more often than not the Either-Or prevails over Both-And.

A leadership contest that concludes before parliament breaks for summer recess likely means a general election before the end of the current A50 extension.

They [ Labour] asked for it

... and they got it [handed to them on a plate] by the most idiotic Tory operators seen for a century... or more.

Now that Mrs. May will have a lot of time to spend in the parish, she can go to church and follow the practices of the "other" main branch of Christianity: every day "repent, repent!". Some further guidance:
1. Be honest about the need for repentance
- cease trying to cover up with self-righteousness and deceit
2. Acknowledge the damage of guilt
- rather than blame others, but honestly assess the consequences of your deeds' impact. Not just the one they have already had— but the ones they will continue to have on others, for decades to come.
3. Confess fully
- and please report back when the "job's done"

its a start, but if 20000 motorists go to the seaside how do they charge to get home. I think that there will be problems for a long time. It should also be mandatory that every public car park has charging facilities too.

Interesting, Gavin returned as Secretary of Education.
Fortune favors brave sir, said Carrot cheerfully.
What's her position about heavily armed, well prepared and overmanned armies?
Oh, noone's ever heard of Fortune favoring them, sir.
According to General Tacticus, it's because they favor themselves…

Yep. No danger of him being involved in any NSC briefings there. ;)

Can somebody explain to me ( as a non-UK member ) why some MPs are rising from their benches after each PSs statement? What's the meaning of that?
