AgustaWestland to Provide Philippine Navy with 2 AW159 Wildcat ASW Helicopters
AgustaWestland was awarded by the Philippine's Department of National Defense with the contract to provide two anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopters. The two AW159 Wildact helicopters will be assigned to Philippine Navy. The award was made after DND announced in late 2015 that AgustaWestland was the sole proponent for the said project.

The AW159 Wildcat is in use with the UK Army Air Corps and Royal Navy. It has also been ordered (8 units) by the Republic of Korea Navy. The Philippine Navy becomes the second export customer of the Wildcat.
Al Qaida has lost nearly 500 in the battles around Marawi since May (20 Indonesians within that count; the point being, though, that there are quite a few of them).
Looks like the Moro Front do not want them there, and the stalled autonomy deal for the Muslim South might be re-energised:
" The autonomy deal would have been a major legacy of Duterte's predecessor, Benigno Aquino III, but the legislation stalled in Congress in 2015 after some rebels from the 11,000-strong Moro Islamic Liberation Front became entangled in fighting that killed 44 police commandos during an anti-terrorism raid in the south. The massive police deaths sparked public outrage and prompted lawmakers to stall passage of the bill.
Wearing a business suit, the 69-year-old Murad, who says he met late al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden when he was sent as a young insurgent for combat training in Afghanistan decades ago, underscored that, if the autonomy deal was set in place, the more moderate rebels in his group can provide crucial help in dealing with the smaller but radical groups that have emerged in the south.
The deal aims to create a regional police force, which may enlist qualified insurgents, who fought and grew up in the battlefields in the south that may now be transformed into prosperous communities.
"The revolutionaries are very, very, very knowledgeable of the terrain," Murad said."

French shipyard OCEA launched its largest vessel to date, the OPV 270, on July 17 2019 at its shipyard in Les Sables d’Olonne.
Entirely designed and built by OCEA, the 84 meters long OPV 270 was selected by the Coast Guard of the Philippines and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) further to an international competition in which OCEA was able to highlight its solutions for efficient reduction of the costs of ownership and CO2 emissions.
She is the largest ship built at Les Sables d’Olonne as well as being the largest aluminum OPV built in the world.
RoK Navy Po Hang-class corvette officially handed over to Philippine Navy
The Republic of Korea (RoK) Navy former Po Hang-class corvette Chungju was formally handed over to the Philippine Navy today, August 5, at the RoKN’s Jinhae Naval Base. Renamed BRP Conrado Yap (PS-39), the vessel will now sail to the Philippines.

HHI Launched the 2nd and Final Jose Rizal-class Frigate for the Philippine Navy

On December 18th 2019, the Philippine Coast-Guard took possession of their latest and most advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) from OCEA Shipyards at the occasion of a change of flag ceremony in Saint-Nazaire, France.

Philippines bought 3 batteries of Brahmos missiles from India for 375 mil. USD:
“We can expect this engagement to focus on the maritime domain, exclusive economic zone, hydrograph, and UK participation in future military exercises,” it said.
Fits nicely with the two forward based OPVs operating off board MCM systems, with an odd visit from the CSG itself or more likely a CSG escort temporarily operating with the Philippine navy.
