6th Roussen-class FACM for the Hellenic Navy Started Sea Trials
https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/20 ... ea-trials/The Hellenic Navy's sixth of seven Super Vita / Roussen-class fast attack craft missile (FACM) started sea trials.
[...]
The vessel, with hull number P 78, was launched on 1 June 2018 at Elefsis Shipyard.
The story of the Hellenic Navy’s Super Vita is complex and spans across many years:
A contract for the construction of three modern missile boats was signed in January 2000. The construction took place at the Elefsis Shipyards, while Vosper Thornycroft (now BAE Systems Maritime) provided the design, logistical support and equipment for the ships. On August, 2003 and September, 2008 options that provided the acquisition of four more vessels were activated with the last ship to be commissioned in 2015...

France & Greece Working on G-to-G Agreement for Multi-Mission Frigates
https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/20 ... -frigates/France and Greece are actively working on a Government-to-Government agreement for the procurement of two Belharra / FDI frigates for the Hellenic Navy, Naval News learned from Naval Group.
...
The government to government talks consist in much more than the mere procurement of vessels. Naval News learned that what is being offered to Greece is a partnership in which the Hellenic Navy would effectively join the French FTI program
...
Naval Cruise Missile for Greece: A deciding factor
...
The introduction of NCM in the Hellenic Navy would provide it with increased deterrent and deep-strike capabilities, which seems of great interest to Greece. Therefore, the ships shall be regarded as a strategic asset in the Greek defense force structure.
...
In addition to FDI frigates, Naval Group is looking to supply its F21 heavyweight torpedo to the Hellenic Navy, which has a requirement to equip its fleet of four Type 214 and one Type 209 submarines. The need is for 36x 21-inch (533 mm) heavyweight torpedoes to replace the ageing SUT Mod0 and SST-4.
Re: Hellenic Armed Forces (Greece)
Looking at the Roussen class and thinking outside of the box, if the UK wants to have forward deployed naval forces, should we look at having one or two self contained groupings of say three of these large FACs/small corvettes and a mothership like a modified Bay. Admittedly they would not be able to deploy rapidly but the attack vessels could be moved by transporter. Having such a group operating in the Gulf or the Straits near Singapore, with a aviation flight of say four Wildcats on the Bay would be quite an effective Littoral force.

Re: Hellenic Armed Forces (Greece)
The MMSC could be a better platform for the area the Hellenic Navy operates in, plus getting four for the price of two has to be a tempting offer.

MMSC for Hellenic Navy: No, the cost is not € 2 billion, it is double the amount
https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/20 ... he-amount/Since the first announcement of the US position through the so-called P&A (Price and Availability) which reportedly was priced at 2 billion euros for four vessels and follow on support (FOS), we had expressed serious reservations. In keeping with our public information ethics, the issue has been further explored in terms of the cost of those ships as we reiterate that in every respect, the price of 2 billion euros for the vessels, their weapons and their FOS is insanely low.

FMS charge is quoted at 10% when it is actually 2.5% ?

Shows the buoyancy of the Hunt's by the fact that the two halves stayed afloat!
On another point, the Greek Airforce had contract Lockheed Martin to upgrade all its F-16Cs to F-16V standard, greatly increasing the capabilities of the plane, with a new AESA radar being the core improvement to the programme. The USAF is upgrading its Block 50 and above aircraft to the same standard to retain them in service until the 2040s.
