UK Iraq veterans face prosecution.

Discuss current, historical or potential future deployments, as well the defence of the UK's overseas interests.

UK Iraq veterans face prosecution.

Post by arfah »

"UK soldiers who fought in the Iraq War may face prosecution for war crimes, according to the head of a unit investigating alleged abuses.

Mark Warwick said there were "lots of significant cases" and that discussions would be held over whether they met a war crimes threshold.

Lawyers are continuing to refer alleged abuse by soldiers to the Iraq Historic Allegations Team (IHAT).

The Ministry of Defence said it took such allegations "extremely seriously".

Two public inquiries have already looked at claims against UK troops in Iraq.

Mr Warwick, a former police detective who is in charge of IHAT, told the Independent that the allegations being investigated included ones of murder.

The inquiry has considered at least 1,515 possible victims, of whom 280 are alleged to have been unlawfully killed."

Yeah, sod this. Accountability where warranted is absolutely necessary but crap like this has become so politicised by the liberal mafia that these things are more like witch hunts these days.

It is about time that the Prime minister and M.O.D. developed a spine and put an end to the political inspired neutering of our armed forces by the human rights Hitler youth. That has cost us the taxpayer millions to support there money grabbing politically correct legal shenanigans.

arfah he's made his money he can afford to be struck off. he'll play the health card to avoid law suits and live on his ill gotten gains. Hopefully there will be a criminal investigation for at the very least fraud. but i doubt it. Any trial he'll be a cause celebe for the loony left about how the establishment was out to get him.
As to those who's lives and reputations he has ruined there will be little comeback the world is more prepared to believe the lie than the truth an apologies in the press will be page 35 two line meaningless apology no one will read.
This needs to go to the european court of human rights as part of a take a look at the effect of your actions type review. But it won't and if it does the political apointees masquarading as judges will ignore it.

Unfortunately he will probably get nowhere near a prison shower unlike the poor ex squaddies he persecuted. They should review every case he has had anything to do with. If I got my way he would be given a long sentence to remind the rest of the human rights Hitler youth what to expect when they peruse our boys and girls wrongfully.

They really do need to change the law, to prevent this ever happening again. Too many soldiers have had their lives ruined by these false allegations. They should all be given compensation. Nothing can bring back lost careers, broken marriages, financial hardship brought on by people out to make money any way they can.

Any lawyers/solicitors etc should be jailed for the same amount of time as any falsely imprisoned service personnel. Would soon put a stop to fraudulent cases.

So members of UK Armed Forces can't make war crimes and are beyond and above any posssible doubt? :o
Fortune favors brave sir, said Carrot cheerfully.
What's her position about heavily armed, well prepared and overmanned armies?
Oh, noone's ever heard of Fortune favoring them, sir.
According to General Tacticus, it's because they favor themselves…

I will never condone War Crimes but the current situation where every incident where a Soldier even touched another person is investigated is such a sign of the compensation culture that has developed. The claimants in this case are not after justice but money, hoping the MoD will just pay up. The veterans have been victimised by a system that didn't want to pay up, and used very heavy handed method to investigate claimed based on the slimmest evidence. Investigators these days seem to use "Fishing Expeditions" as their primary means to gather evidence for a case that can start with only limited, barely admissible evidence. For all intents and purposes defendants appear to be guilty until they can prove their innocence. Yet the PIRA get a full pardon!
