Spoke to Nipper yesterday, he was on S1 duty for the entire trip in to Rosyth, up next to the ramp on flight deck... apparently, although it looked a nice sunny day, it was freezing.

KHM Portsmouth indicates that QE is returning to Portsmouth on Thursday 13th October at around 14:45.

Hi, I only been up there a couple of times but stayed at the premiere Inn at South Queensferry, they had a tower that looks more or less at the Goliath crane from South of the river, was a few years ago now b4 they completed the 2nd road bridge though, I also remember the Hawes Inn by the Forth rail bridge being quite a good place for a drink ...

QE is home. Passed the Round Tower at 15:05
Bows north at Victory Jetty, 15:35. German frigate Mecklenburg-Vorpommernat (F218) at South Railway Jetty (SRJ)

Still listed as a registered member,! I think he must have posted last, before the upgrading of the site when the date of the last posting would have been lost. I am sure he has “posted” within the last 2 years, He may, however for much of the time prefer to be a “lLurker” .

Armed police close the channel as HMS Queen Elizabeth, flagship aircraft carrier of the Royal Navy, returns to Portsmouth after deployment to the United States.
HMS Queen Elizabeth deployed to Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia. From there the Queen Elizabeth-class carrier trained with the US Navy and hosted the Atlantic Future Forum in New York City.
Aircraft departed the carrier prior to the ship coming into port, as is standard practice.
Security is provided by the Ministry of Defence Police, who ensure no other vessels or persons come near. Tugs from Serco assist the boat into the base.

HMS Queen Elizabeth has arrived back in Portsmouth after a deployment to the US which saw her deputise for the broken-down HMS Prince of Wales. The carrier provided a floating home for the Atlantic Future Forum.

I'd be guessing a full waterblasting and repainting of the antifouling paint, along with the boot topping would be done - IF they can plan such an event to go ahead prior than expected.
Paint manufacturers' may need lead-time to make up such a large batch of paint.

Im sure POW will get replacements by the time she leaves dry dock, probably easier to nick hers 4a quick fix as she wont need both lifts4a wee bit

I really think this story about the lift chains from POW being removed, driven down to Portsmouth and fitted to QE is highly suspect. Having seen pictures of the chains they must weigh a fair few tonnes each, plus with limited aircraft they won't have done much work at all. Also it would be a big craning job to get them off and back on., not a bit of scaffold and a forklift.
