The story that a cover was left on an intake has to be very close to impossible. Just look at any video of a F35 launch from Queen Elizabeth, there are always deck crew present at both the 10 oclock and 2 oclock positions looking at the plane prior to launch, unless they have very poor eyesight surely they would notice ?
Also the engines wouldn't run up properly either, the pilot would never get to the stage of brake release

When you consider both USS The Sullivans and HNLMS Evertsen who both spent at least seven months with UK CSG21, is that the first time foriegn warships have spent to long embedded with a RN force?

It was probably a relief to the capain and crew of HMS Queen Elizabeth given the (hopefully in the past) reliability issues of the T45 destroyers).

Maybe it is a sign of future deployments with smaller naval nations sending their Destroyers and Frigates to assist protecting US / UK / French carrier groups in prolonged deployments.

Huge apologies if I am posting this in the wrong thread but do any of you lovely people know when the QE is due back in Portsmouth? Pretty sure it is this week but have checked shipping movements and other online resources and can’t find any details. I’m keen to get down to Portsmouth to wave her in. Many thanks.

Just spoke to nipper and he had heard tomorrow, however there is a no fly zone restriction in place for Friday over Pompey harbour so I guess it's probably then.

Glad they recovered the jet. I assume is a complete write off but wonder if anything can even be salvaged for spares. If it sank 1km down the pressure on the airframe prob mean nothing would be reusable.

Glad we recovered the jet, it would be the height of embarrassment if it landed in the hands of someone else.

I think the corrosive sea water that came within all the internals would have done that’, maybe the frame is salvageable but would it be worth the expense to replace all operating system, be cheaper just build another

I had a 4wd suffer the indignation of being swallowed by the drink in my younger days (Fraser Island) to my amazement it still worked with a bit of a flush, but it caused me nothing but grief with the following corrosion over the years to the point I gave up on it

Interesting, not sure if I read the official MOD tweet as together or with separate NATO forces at different times, hope it is as a twosome!
