Any news on how many F-35s will be embarking for the deployment?

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
A different site says she wont be embarking any from Marham but will pick up 17 Squadrons, still based in the states, and maybe some USMC as well... We'll see I guess. Shame 617 isn't getting more sea time but then I guess Westlant 22 is more slated for trials than an operational deployment.Phil Sayers wrote: ↑25 Aug 2022, 19:24 Any news on how many F-35s will be embarking for the deployment?
On that note is SRVL still a thing?
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Hmm, just heard from nipper that the departure may have been delayed...which as we are currently sat by the hot walls waiting for her to leave, rather annoying.
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Definitely delayed. PoW is still bows north on Victory Jetty, she should have been "wound" south by now. The harbour's boat channel is still open too.
Her tugs had begun to assemble at 11:25, but went away by 12:00.
Ship's company had begun to assemble on the flight deck at 11:40, but they went back below.
PoW's medium and long range radars had both been rotating, but both stopped by 12:20.
Gangways still attached too.

12:20 - PoW's tugs have moved into position.
12:50 - She's off the jetty. Both lifts are up, gangways and lines clear. Radars all rotating. Procedure Alpha around the whole flightdeck. No aircraft on deck. Still bows north at present.
13:07 - PoW has moved bows north further up into the harbour and is parallel with QE! Perhaps the water is deeper/wider to the north of QE for the wind to face south?
13:15 - PoW's clockwise wind has begun, just to the north of QE at PRJ.
13:25 - Tugs have completed the wind for PoW to face bows south.

I've seen them do that before when both QE class are in port. Also, from where I am at the hot walls on the beach, I can see HMS Dauntless on the horizon waiting to enter.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Well it had to break sooner or later I suppose...nipper not happy. He's spent most of today protecting the flight deck from killer IoW seagulls...
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Hoping in situ I guess, next best is Pompey, worst case scenario I imagine is a place he really didn't enjoy for his first year on her.
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I'm pretty sure QNLZ had issues with her prop shaft seal not long after leaving Rosyth, that was fixed in Pompey. No idea if this is the same issue though, thought that was resolved on PWLS during final build, but could be wrong.
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
PWLS was due her Lloyds hull job next year as far as I know. If its the worse case scenario, then could this be brought forward, Also how did this happen?
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Hope not ripping them mounts again like on QE , doing major damage,do agree tho British naval industry might be starting to get a v bad reputation for building ships and this could do damage in future ,they need to get to grips with these drip drip drip of bad repeated design / application problems ,every navy has issues but we only have a few ships and classes in our fleet and it's starting to be every capital class of ship we have had major issues that need fixing ,RN is going to be looked at as an unreliable partners who might turn up for the mission if they not broken down ,very unfortunate for the great sailors we undoubtedly have ,let's just hope it's not another total major issue that takes months and months to fix like all the other backlog off issues the navy seem be collecting up , gutted for your lad and the crew phillyj

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
To paraphrase the following saying “I was to learn later in life that the attraction of a cheap price (fewer ships) over a more sensible purchase (more ships, of every class) with the passage of time and in the light of experience (of the purchase) was, nothing but an illusion. Another example of the disadvantage of an inadequate number of ships in a class that seems to be afflicting the RN across many of the classes of Warship in the current Fleet.
