Its not even as if PoW has been pushed hard for the last 18mths and the Engineering Dept have had how long to prepare for this deployment, making sure everything was 100% ready to go?

To suffer such a major malfunction within 24hrs of leaving port is a total failure on someone's part.

I don't see how they can come out of this without heads rolling somewhere.

Another thing about this if it turns out to be a major issue and in dock for a duration is also the cost yet AGAIN fixing stuff that shouldn't need fixing, taking money off trying to increase the up arming of fleet and increasing the size of fleet ,what with air force issues, army can't decide what they want ,navy every capital class a problem ,I do think the top brass of our defence and MOD need to shake their heads ,just not good enough and total shoddy leadership tbh ,we can't afford to arm our ships cos we constantly paying to fix them ffs

QHM has this for today, perhaps they are moving her to more sheltered anchorage in the Solent to fix?

Embarrassing but not the end of the world, unlike the propeller damage suffered by her predecessor 81 years ago. If you have time on your hands this is a good read:

I think from memory that the conclusion was that the ship was doomed from the moment the torpedo hit the shaft support.

I think because of the price of fuel going up they’ve decided not to bother going to far

There's talk now on UKDJ of her docking down in Amsterdam rather than a trip north to Rosyth. Also some discussion that her propeller hit something during her departure from Pompey? If that's true either the Navigator made a mess of the departure or the RN needs to do an urgent survey to check the channel before the QE's next departure!!

UKDJ need to be more careful about the stories they post on more than one occasion things have had to be corrected and even apologised for.
She may be going to Amsterdam but I'd like to see the paper work as she's currently bombed up. Anything in Belfast at the moment?

I spent most of the morning on the phone with various people talking about this and the feasibility of going to the Netherlands. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong and I'll happily publish a correction but Amsterdam being touted is what multiple independent and well-placed people told me.

Thanks for the reply, I'll keep an eye out for an update on the site of the pictures of PWLS transiting the Noordzeekanaal.

My hopefully constructive criticism still stands, I would hope that you err on the side of caution and your site became a 'journal of record' rather than a clickbaity Reach newspaper afair.

Reference “D” Lock comment, I have always thought that converting No. 2 Basin would have been a better solution and indeed was eventually given consideration. If it had actually been built, it would have also provided the.possibility of (hopefully) a 3rd (QEC) berth.

Well nipper sent me this, glad he is still seeing the funny side! They have been advised to keep chatter down between them and the public, so false rumours do not gain a following.

I seem to remember recently that Harland and Wolf has work that they were using their Dry Dock for, tho I would love some confirmation on that. I cant think of what Rosyth could be using their dock for right now, so it should be free.

Now being told Rosyth is once again the favourite due to the level of damage.

Am still curious as to how this all happened, did the prop strike a submerged object, damaging the shaft in the process??

While I dont think anyone on here would be sad about a 3rd ship, the time for building a 3rd one has come and gone, its not just the costs, its all those ships yards lining up to be able to build the ships again.

Why don't we have a Bedford array on the QE surely its going to need one at some point? Its just a strange one.
