As much as I love my iPhone 6+ it can't take pics from a mile and half away. Need the zoom lens on my Fuji.Dave wrote:cockneyjock1974 wrote:She is being loaded onto the dockside as at time of writing. Unfortunately no pics as i cannot for the life of me find the batteries for my camera.

CJ, are/were you able to see if any new sponsons have been fitted recently, specifically to the port side (left side)?

Unfortunately not SKB my view faces the starboard beam, however I can see the crane clearly so I'll know which side the lift is on.SKB wrote:CJ, are/were you able to see if any new sponsons have been fitted recently, specifically to the port side (left side)?
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I'm still not sure if the two 'missing' port side SP02 sponsons have been fitted to the PoW yet. The April ACA newsletter update talks about those blocks, but the photos in the update don't show them fitted.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
From memory, I think they are SKB. But I am (of course) relaxing at home so cannot check. Probably just that the photos were older than the report.
Yes I have been busy. Very busy. Some big milestones coming up as QNLZ comes to life, and PWLS progress will continue apace as you partially can see. What you cannot see is how much more complete she is than QNLZ at the same stage, That should make fitting out quicker as well
Apologies for leaving, but there were some factually incorrect statements being made that I could not correct, either because the moderators did not like the truth, or because it would have meant saying something I am not allowed to.
So in the circumstances, silence and a self-imposed absence seemed the best option.
I do not promise regular attendance here. Too little time I'm afraid

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I've updated my PoW assembly diagram, thanks to Enigmatically's and others info.
Have added SP02 Aft, SP02 Fwd, added catwalks to the port side as described in the April newsletter. *100th Post!*

Hey guys, well, I finally took the plunge and decided to say hi. I've been following you guys on militaryphotos.net since day one. SKB, I love your construction diagrams and just wanted to say thank you for all your efforts with these. Enigmatically's contributions answered so many burning questions and always proved to satisfy my curiosity, at least for a while. I don't know if I'll be able to contribute much as I've learned most of what I know about the carrier program from you guys, but lets just wait and see Eh? I may even surprise myself

Welcome aboard, Jessie
Found this video below on Youtube, recorded in March, a pleasure cruise which nears Rosyth (at around 5:00 minutes in) and shows some nice close-ups of the QE.

Thanks SKB!
Does anybody know when the deck coating is due to go on?

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
It may well be one of last things to go on, as they are using the flight deck space whilst they fit out the interior, so they won't be ready to paint till its been cleared and prepared. Given the nature of the paint material i guess they don't want to risk it being damaged during fitting out. plus it may have a limited lifespan, so they would want to ensure this coating lasts till the first scheduled refit.Jessie wrote:Thanks SKB!

Check out photos of the last Ark Royal and yyou'll see she did sea trials with the deck unpainted. I know it makes the ship look like a proper carrier, but it has its own time and place on the schedule and will be done when they are ready for it
