If they truly believe the tripe that they write or print, they really ought to leave voluntarily, or be exiled! After all the UK is famously an “unsinkable aircraft carrier”.

DT usual rubbish story, do agree that a few more Helicopters and F35B would be nice to have.

Who exactly championed the change? Please do explain. Personal view - whatever the theoretical pros and cons, once yr five/six years into a complex engineering project that’s not the time to be removing 700 tonnes of steel from one end of the vessel cutting four deep grooves in the deck and radically upgrading power generation
capacity.
Bear in mind there has never been a cats and traps ship powered by GTs

The idea of changing was idiotic! It didn’t however stop the Royal Navy pushing it and getting it selected for sdsr2010. That was then championed by all the online pro naval media, you could care to mention from the phoenix think tank crowd to save the Royal Navy to WIFR you name it. It was the best decision ever interoperability with the US navy and all! Then reality hit! and it was everyone else’s fault why it was being switched back!

Interesting that this blows up again... as, officially ;) , the whole going round roundabouts only! cost us 70 mln £s. :?:

Now, who can find :ugeek: the members of the All-Electric Ship mafia... who have cost us umpteen millions  more? - and who can say what the end bill is (with so any days at sea missed, by the the Navy's -until now - most potent assets)??
Ever-lasting truths: Multi-year budgets/ planning by necessity have to address the painful questions; more often than not the Either-Or prevails over Both-And.
If everyone is thinking the same, then someone is not thinking (attributed to Patton)

Wikipedia says a six part BBC2 series called "Strike Carrier" is in production by Chris Terrill, the same person who produced the two Britain's Biggest Warship series. There's no transmission date listed yet.

PoW should be due for her first dry-docking in 2023 as she'll have been floating for five years since float-out on 21st December 2017.

Indeed, nipper is cock-a-hoop for returning to the place where his journey began on PWLS! 🤫

It brings into focus the change from counter-terrorist operations and chasing different groups around in various countries, into near-peer conflicts with far larger and organised nations.

Both European and Pacific strategic areas & forces need to be considered & QE class coming on-stream is very well timed for this.

My recollection was the only notable person pushing it was the execrable Dr Liam Fox. Now he might have been justified in asking for the briefest of feasibiity studies given the issues with the B variant at the time as part of a risk mitigation process, but the actions he took ended up costing us c£150m...

Seems PWLS may have scuppered another ex- Capt of hers. Bits on twitter about previous behaviour of said officer inviting lone females into his quarters for personal mentoring, nipper said they had heard the rumours, but didn't believe them.

Interesting clips of the Mojave drone based on the Predator. 300 feet to take off, 300 feet to land. No mention of payload but makes you wonder, could it use a ski ramp 🤔

Edit..........Just ignore me. This has already been posted in the RAF Predator thread.

Was round nippers new married quarters last night (he's not married but in a long term relationship with his girlfriend) , despite all the horror stories about service homes, they've lucked out. 2 bed flat, all redecorated before they moved in, nice sized rooms.

Anyhow, he will only have about a couple of weeks to settle in, window for leaving for the US opens Friday 26th.
