Ship Running Costs

Post by shark bait »

The running costs for the royal navy have been released for the year 13/14.

Not normally too interesting, but this is the most comprehensive list I've seen which makes for a nice comparison. However though my personal reaserch of this subject I've found the costs vary wildly from year to year so its not to be taken as gospel but interesting non the less

Astute-class £9.9 million;
Trafalgar-class £11.7 million;
Vanguard-class £18.6 million;

Type 23 £11.7 million;
Type 45 £14.8 million;

HMS Ocean £12.3 million;
Albion-class £24 million;

River-class £3.5 million;
Hunt-class £2.8 million;
Sandown-class £3 million;
Echo-class £5.5 million;
Gleaner coastal survey ship £555,000;
HMS Scott £4.5 million;
HMS Protector £7.4 million;

Wave-class £9.1 million;
Leaf-class £5.7 million;
Rover-class £7.2 million;
Fort Victoria £14.3 million;
Fort Austin-class £11.8 million;
Bay-class £8.2 million;
RFA Argus £8.9 million;
RFA Diligence £6.6 million.

This is the average annual costs of a ship on this when on operations and the amounts include personnel costs, fuel, port visits, travel and subsistence

Just wait for the V-boats (' cost) to go through the roof if we are into their unplanned refuelling (would only apply to three of the 4)
Ever-lasting truths: Multi-year budgets/ planning by necessity have to address the painful questions; more often than not the Either-Or prevails over Both-And.
If everyone is thinking the same, then someone is not thinking (attributed to Patton)
