Perhaps but is RN/MoD/HMG learning as fast as the rebels that are operating the drones?
Any sense of urgency appears to be absent.

They have been training against such things for a whilePoiuytrewq wrote: ↑07 Feb 2024, 13:43Perhaps but is RN/MoD/HMG learning as fast as the rebels that are operating the drones?

That’s the price Russia is paying not the price of Iranian manufacture which is less than $50k
Oh no, tens of millions of pounds were lost ....
How many targets could CAMM have neutralised if it had of been fitted, saving the Aster?
What is the most difficult thing being shot by the Houthis a Scud derived ballistic missile?Poiuytrewq wrote: ↑08 Feb 2024, 14:43How many targets could CAMM have neutralised if it had of been fitted, saving the Aster?
Unknown but we have seen a type 23 launching CAMM at multiply targets and we replaced a type 45 with a type 23, so it must be up to the task now they have a good idea of what to expect.Poiuytrewq wrote: ↑08 Feb 2024, 14:43How many targets could CAMM have neutralised if it had of been fitted, saving the Aster?
Perhaps but RN must also be ready for what is coming in the next 5-10 years along with the inevitable increase in the size and complexity of the swarms.
HMS Defender will be the first to receive SV CAMM during her current PIP refit.
Exactly what I was wondering, I can't see any News about her since last April. News of Dragon returning to the Fleet this year, but Daring seems to have been in refit forever. She hasn't had CAMM fitted yet either apparently.
2017 was the last time daring was at sea I think. 7 years in dock
Probably piecing her back together from all of the kit nicked off her while in low readiness before the refit/pip started to keep the other 45s going.
When should that happen?

With the way all the upgrades planned for the type 45's, you get the feeling at the end of the PIP we will have 6 different ships, some with only the PIP, some with Sea Cepter, some with ASTER 30 Block 1 and knowing us some with the Block 1N at end of it.
What a mess, just goes to show how good some of the planning was for the upgrades.
