HMS Trent in SNMG2, prepared for ASW exercise.... What is her task? Target? :D

Anyway, very impressive mix of fleet. Surely the River OPV is the least war-fighting capable vessel, but still clearly the member pf SNMG2.

With a larger gun and some LMMs we all could learn to love them. :)

Some light relief - and a reminder of the value for money these ships give (saving the rest of the fleet to deter tier one foes).

It must be one hell of an adventure being part of the crew of the two Rivers way out east.

Lets hope the ship's company of HMS Spey doesn't follow the example of Pitcairn Islands ancestors from 1789....

Protected by a police speed boat...

Don't they have pintles for MGs for entering such tight spaces for passage?

No problem. Each and every foreign naval ships (including USN) is always escorted by Japan Coast Guard patrol boat. In Japanese water, US warship cannot fire any armed except for self defence. Yes they can do, but Japanese government will be very very angry (actually, Japanese people will be). It is much better to put Japanese authority assets, in between.

No difference in Singapore, look like?

I know... I was just renewing the 'undergunned' argument; under cover!

Yes, they are circumventing to globe. But for what purpose?

I am surprised we haven't converted two of the pintle mounts to take the good old M2 .50cal Heavy Machine Gun already. The work required would be minimal and the benefits in range and hitting power speak for themselves.

Am a big fan of 0.50 cal and would gladly see it used more widely on RN / RFA ships as secondary weapon vs small boats etc.

"Severn on the Firth of the Forth" would have been more numerically amusing to read, a bit like a Forfar 5-4 East Fife football score.

We need the rest painted. Not only is it useful in littoral operations but in my books it is a big PR win for the Royal Navy, worth more than the cost of said paint job. Next should be the black and white Zebra scheme used during WWI :D
