Pluto was discovered in 1930 and classified as the ninth planet orbiting the Sun. In 2005, Pluto was reclassified from 'Planet' to 'Dwarf Planet' because of the discovery of several larger objects in the Kuiper Belt.
On Tuesday 14th July 2015, NASA probe 'New Horizons' arrived at Pluto after a decade long journey from Earth.

I don't know if anyone here watched Babylon 5, but Pluto looks just like the planet the space station orbited.
EPIC time-lapsed animation of the moon crossing the Earth, as observed from behind the far side of the moon, normally never visible from the Earth's surface. (Btw, EPIC is the name of the satellite!)

♪ Ground Control To Major Tim....
Major Tim Peake will (hopefully) become Britain's first official astronaut later this morning when he and 2 others will lift off from Baikonur cosmodrome at 11:03AM for eventual rendezvous with the International Space Station. Tim Peake is the UK's first European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut.
There have been Britons in space before, but none were "official". Others, such as Helen Sharman (the first Briton in space) were paid for by the Russian Space Agency when her private sponsorship fell through. Other Britons such as Michael Foale, who flew on Mir and the Space Shuttle had to become US citizens to get into space.
According to the British Interplanetary Society, Tim Peake is the seventh British-born person to go into space. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-35103788
ITV News report on Tim's day. Prelaunch, launch, docking and boarding the ISS are shown.

ESA - Destination Moon
The European Space Agency (ESA) video showing it future intentions to explore and eventually colonise the moon. Not Mars, which will annoy NASA a bit.

Britain's Major Tim Peake has become the first official Briton to do a spacewalk!

Tim Peake's spacewalk was abandoned after US astronaut Tim Kopra's space helmet had 15ml of water detected floating around inside it. Both men returned to ISS interior safely.
