Re: New Zealand Defence Force
This article is also interesting. Not just A140, how to "design" the fleet.

Re: New Zealand Defence Force
Let's see what kind of proposal it will be.
My personal proposal will be
Option-1:
- two new built A140s each with ; 127 mm gun, 2x 40mm 3P guns, 24 CAMM, 8 NSM, CAPTAS-4CI sonar (hopefully), 1x SH60R and a few UAVs.
As a fleet, this will be followed by
- two newly built OPV-replacements,
- one newly built smallish LSD
- one DivingTender (current Manawanui is OK, I guess)
two newly built Damen FCS 5009 patrol vessel (multi-purpose)
- and AO Aotearoa
Option-2:
- three Ex-UK Type-31 (hull 3,4,5 of RN T31) as; 57 mm gun, 4x 40 mm 3P guns, 24 CAMM, 8 NSM, CAPTAS-4CI sonar (hopefully), 1x SH60R and a few UAVs.
Added with
- two newly built Vard-7 313 added with "integrated well-dock systems"
- one DivingTender (current Manawanui is OK, I guess)
- two newly built Damen FCS 5009 patrol vessel (multi-purpose)
- and AO Aotearoa
The latter plan with "distribute" the ships' age so that their replacement program may not need huge surge of money.

NGFS. South Pacific is relatively "simple" in military view, and a simple NGFS can work, I guess. For modern mid/high-end warfare, NGFS is not a good option, I agree.

They already operate it so they could just transfer the guns over. No need for new gun, training etc.

Very similar to T23 installation where the 'mushroom stalks' are canted over slightly so any misfires will fall overboard.

Missile away HMNZS Te Mana conducted two successful Sea Ceptor surface-to-air missile firings this week in the East Australia Exercise Area, completing the final part of the frigate’s testing and evaluation process.
This was the first test firing of the Sea Ceptor since the Anzac-class frigates had received the missile system during their combat, surveillance and counter-measures upgrade.
Two tests were conducted using uncrewed aerial platforms to simulate inbound missiles. One was aimed at Te Mana and, two days later, one was targeted away from Te Mana to replicate an attack on another vessel operating with the ship.
The ship’s Combat Management System identified and classified both threats and SeaCeptor missiles were launched which intercepted and destroyed the targets.
This test has demonstrated that the frigates have an increased ability to both defend themselves and defend another ship.
With the successful missile firing, both HMNZS Te Mana and HMNZS Te Kaha will now achieve full capability release.

Apparently they will be doing a test fire of the re-motored penguin missiles next year...

Great news for RNZN. Very great.
Sea Ceptor /CAMM fire test is, I think, the first naval trial out of RN? (Land Septor / CAMM has been tested by a few armies).

Kiwi roundel complete ... The first of our Royal New Zealand Air Force C-130J-30 Hercules to come off the Lockheed Martin production line in Georgia, United States has received its official livery - featuring the RNZAF Kiwi Roundel and No. 40 Squadron’s mariner's compass. Five new aircraft are on track for delivery starting from late this year to replace the C-130H (NZ) Hercules aircraft, which were purchased in 1965. The new aircraft can carry a greater number of pallets, due to their additional 4.5 metre length and payload capacity of 21 tonnes. The second Hercules in the fleet is not far behind, ready for its full-body paint job.
