I think at this point we just have to hope that the PFI deal had a cheap buy out clause at the end of the contract in 2035...I suspect nothing will happen before then in terms of booms or further tech. The A330 fleet will be comparatively young then, but we'll probably want to look at if support for a further 20 years in service is a reasonable expectation.

Except the option to integrate a boom and enhance connectivity was offered to Mod by airtanker probably getting on for a decade ago and was rejected.

With 10 years left to roll on the current Air Tanker contact, it gives us 5 years to really look at alternatives and get them ordered, for delivery by 2035.

An RAF fleet of 12 brand new boom equipped A330 neo, with freight doors and convertible Air med, passenger, or full freight interiors (or combination of the above) to make them truly versatile assets, should be ordered.

I would order 16 when the time comes but it will be a rather large bill always one of the most requested assets. But then it is best strategic tanker/transport in the world.

Totally agree, though we both know they will probably just fudge it, kick the ball down the road and start taking 5 year lease extensions with Air Tanker.

Hi - first post, here. Quick question, that I'd really appreciate the correct answer to, please!
Re. 14th. & final Voyager airframe delivered (ZZ343). Why does it sport all the "core" fleet grey colour scheme details, BUT with the exception of the darker-grey "lightning bolt" on fuselage and "Royal Air Force" titles above the window line? Thanks.

Does anybody know the ration of KC2 (not equipped with centreline pod) vs KC3 (equipped with centreline pod) ?
