why was the Belgian contribution to ISAF not as strongly reinforced as similar nations of its size (such as Dutch/Norwegian/Danish) in regard to size of troops or role of the troops or even being in charge of a PRT?

Now there's an admiral who's doing facial hair correctly. Wish the USN's '70s porn 'stache aficionados would take note.

Bowie g abf the F/A18 are out of the running. Not too clear why they pulled out, anyone know?

So that leaves the F35, Gripen, Typhoon or the Rafale....

Meh, F-35 will win...

What's her position about heavily armed, well prepared and overmanned armies?
Oh, noone's ever heard of Fortune favoring them, sir.

Fine by me, great for UK plc whichever they go with as long as its not the Rafale. Why are you so sure on the F35?

It appears that Boeing's assessment is that the F35 will win, and they don't want to waste money on a futile bid.

Belgium currently operates F16, in close partnership with the Dutch, the US and others. The Dutch, the US (and others) are all replacing their F16s with F35s. High chance that Belgium will do the same?

Because it only make's sense.

a) they have F-16, logical replacement is F-35

b) Netherlands is also buying F-35, so possibility for joint use/maintenance/training. Britain is also buying them.

c) all the candidates are expencive, so it makes sense to buy the most advanced and future-proofed of them all

^^ thanks, hope you're correct. Wouldn't be surprised if the French secured another order, they seem to be very good at closing deals for the Rafale
