MSI Defence

Post by Timmymagic »

Thread for the UK's main manufacturer of naval weapons mounts and RWS. Supplier to the RN, USN and many other navies worldwide.

https://www.msi-dsl.com/

They provide the ASCG 30mm (DS30M) that is mounted on RN Type 23 Frigates and River Batch 2 OPV's. Further mounts were ordered and delivered for installation on the QE Class Carriers but have yet to be fitted.

And DS30B Mk1 which is mounted on the majority of the rest of the RN and RFA vessels.

Further details in the Navy Lookout article

They also have the Seahawk Sigma, that marries the DS30M and Thales UK Martlet (and potentially Starstreak).

The Paladin appears to be the name of a specific combination of sensors (the Polish radar might give a hint of where its going...).

Previously it was called Terrahawk VSHORAD.

They also manufacture the criminally underutilised Terrahawk RWS...sovereign capability in RWS does exist...

In the previous picture at DSEI the example on the stand is branded both Terrahawk and Paladin.
