Point Class contract is up.

The hope would be that they are just re-contracted...

Coming up to 20 years for the 4 we've still got. They've been worked hard, but arguably not as much as a similar vintage commercial vessel. Should have another 10 years work left in them at least before maintenance costs get to be an issue, they are very simple ships.

The teams manning them are on a special contract, so replicating that may not be trivial for a new operator, starting from scratch?

Maintaining the availability of a number of Ro-Ro vessels at short notice to move mainly our Army should be seen as a top priority for the MoD and Treasury, especially as without them we lose a large part of our "Global" military. Ships and Planes are great but they cannot occupy a territory.
