Ferret Armoured Scout Car

Post by Lord Jim »

Found this very good video on the good old Ferret Scout Car. I must have been made in the early sixties as SHAPE is still in France. They are conducting trails of a new oil seal but the method is rather unusual :)

Probably stretching out a helping hand rather than already disposing Ferrets, in 1964 when Denmark, Ireland, Finland and Canada, the four original contributors of troops to UNFICYP arrived to Cyprus (the Canadians brought their own Ferrets) Ferrets were offered at the royal price of $50k each
- what does that buy, in the way of armoured vehicles (their parts :) ) these days?

My vote for investment priority is a Ferret sized UGV, with a range of weapon bolt-ons :D

On the US forces thread it seems (a CGI only for now) that their Random Fires JLTV - admittedly a tad bigger than a Ferret - would carry 3 NSMs
... a FAC with four costs a quarter of what a frigate costs; and the latter would carry only a couple more

So for a frigate's price we can have 400-500 JLTVs; for both, the missiles will be extra
