A couple of nice BAE infographics about the QE and F-35B are available as a PDF download on their website

So, I was bored and tinkering around in my video editing software. Put together this crude clip of both carriers and three Type 23's. If I had some suitable shots of a Type 45, Type 26 or Astute, I'd throw them in there too but I don't!

There's an Astute in your video. It's submerged.

Just a thought as the astute are busy working up and most likely unavailable to escort QE to the states plus with the increasing subs visitors to faslane.
I wouldn't be surprise if a US sub is assign to escort QE on it first trip to the States.

Why do people on here seem to think QE needs escorting everywhere. I'm sure even Putin isn't about to order its sinking and I don't think ISIS can do much in mid Atlantic. When QE is operational and sailing the seven seas yes it should be at the centre of a properly constituted permanent and worked up Battle Group including an Astute, though I fear it will end up being a rather ad hoc group of ships thrown together out of what's available. But at the moment their is little need for it to be escorted.

Sink her, no. But take a good old fashioned look at her bottom, propellers and noise signature is something they'd probably love doing. As for terrorists not reaching her in Atlantic, yeah, probably. But if they added and qualified the light guns I'd be happier, frankly.
You might also know me as Liger30, from that great forum than MP.net was.

Yes that updating one's threat library is tantamount to sinking her both QEC carriers will have little tell tales to distinguish one carrier from another

Similarly, Astutes might recognise the acoustic signature of the Russian carrier Admiral Kuznetsov from the sounds of her ever present tug.

And how exactly will an Astute prevent that?

As for guns, give me a break. The ship is on flying trials.

I might throw a party to celebrate F-35 trials on the QE. It's that damn exciting.

Forces News reporting that QE is due to sail for East Coast of US to start fixed wing trials in June. Only a passing mention in a wider package around sim training.

This is fantastic news! I did notice earlier this year the MoD brought forward the trials from Autumn to Summer. Things must be going very well for this to be at the start of summer.

Does anybody know if the apache/wildcat trials are going to be before then or if they are not needed because the merlin/chinocks have negated the need ? also does this mean the war games with the RM & USMC have been brought forward aswell ?

Report from Forces TV on the simulator training for QEC including discussion on SRVL. Also mentions that QE will be parting for US in June for trials.

(BAE Systems)
The bow block of HMS Duke of Edinburgh, the third and final Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carrier, departed Portsmouth Harbour on Saturday evening for Rosyth, Scotland. The block is the first major section of the new carrier and will enter the same Rosyth assembly drydock recently vacated by HMS Prince of Wales in late 2017 and the first of class, HMS Queen Elizabeth, in 2014.
