Just checked QHM again. QE's still not on it. There's a couple of large ferries due out from Portsmouth International Port at 08:45 and 09:00. Then nothing (except for the usual Wightlink ferries) until 12:45. Marine Traffic is showing tugs SD Tempest and SD Suzanne hovering around off the North Corner jetty.

One Russian reader suggests renaming the ship to rid the bad luck/gypsy curse/jinx.

It is going to be a fun news day.

Hopefully they depart tomorrow, depends on how long it takes for the software to be fixed and tested.

If only we could hold journos to account for their incompetence the way they claim they do to us:
Millions were expected to be spent fixing the problem, with the ship dry docked.

At the time an insider said: 'We're about to uncover the true cost of carrier operations.

'There is a feeling that the ACA mugged us off by not sorting this before the handover.'
Disgraceful

Fancy the ACA people operating the pumps not telling the RN about the leak.
Wait you say- the ship was RN crewed? And
Repairs were made by the Aircraft Carrier Alliance and not the Ministry of Defence
What was this insider inside of? A Mental institution?

Hey Enigmatically,

Long time, no see! Are you able to confirm that the shaft seal has been successfully replaced or repaired?

Good to see 'E' back. Always a good read the DM comments, also the local Pompey Evening News comments when a story like this breaks. :eh: I was surprised to see that someone was recording the sprinklers and then released that to the papers without fear of repercussions, I imagine it's hard to stop with phones being so small and prevalent these days.

Thank god the hanger wasn't full of a billion pounds worth of F35B with their canopies open!

It would be much more serious if the footage of the sprinkler incident was the result of someones phone than the incident itself , I would expect it was an authorised filming rather than someone taking whatever footage that they find interesting and releasing it to the press which I don,t believe happened

I can’t find it atm but it’s been confirmed that QE’s seal has been fully repaired and the cost (not millions) was covered by BAE. It was revealed this month at either a select committee or something to do with the NAO. I’ll try and find it later but maybe has access to the info quicker?

Ah, cool. Thanks, CameronPerson. Must have missed that one if it was reported in a Select Committee...

This gent used to run the official HMS QE twitter page until very recently, still on board. Looks like whoever sent that footage in is going to be in a spot of trouble. Bit dissapointing that someone on board would send that video knowing full well that the Sun would jump on the outrage band wagon

SFDO practicing for their date with the Lightning in Autumn.. nice to see the FA2s moving under their own power, 2006 was a far too early demise for this brilliant aircraft

Just posted by Bob Bond CO of 845..

We can expect to see Merlins doing AAR with the USMC Ospreys when they come aboard, no chance of the FAA operating their own unless the MoD find a spare few billion behind the sofa
