sorry, didn't realise the end bit is an automated message, thought it was an additional point that you were trying to communicate.Pte. James Frazer wrote: ↑13 Nov 2023, 22:21 General Atomics Mojave....STOL RPAS due for trials....crated on most likely as wouldn't fly on before....mmm..trials

Speculation hence the question mark in my first post.....driven by the journalistic tease of the original @HMSPWLS tweet.

Speculation hence the question mark of my first post...but, given that Mojave trials are imminent and F35 trials now complete, prompted by the journalistic tease of the original HMSPWLS tweet.

I have read that the Mojave airframes will be tested on take off and only landing on the carrier if conditions are suitable, so I suspect your speculation is correct.Pte. Meanwhile HMS QNLZ wraps up its deployment....
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Yes, years ago. The F in CVF was an early 2010s acronym for CV "Future" when the QEC was a future project.
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Nah, it's fun for people to be curious, just like, "why are they prefixed 'R'."

Perhaps the QEC (and Ford Class) could now best be described as CVEs as opposed to CVNs.

Looked to be off in a third of deck and landed back on in less than half for me this shows we need to push for through deck MRSS now to allow us to take this capability anywhere at any time

Impressive.
Now it needs to do it again fully loaded and at night to confirm but a 200m LPH looks like more than enough to handle that.
As expected the game just changed.

If this develops as everyone hopes then presumably we might see an angled flight deck added to the class as part of a major refit. That makes me slightly nervous after what happened to HMS Victorious. In that case the high costs of the refit were used to justify decommissioning the ship early.
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Possibly less, if a lightweight catapult/ arrestor gear was installed as has been hinted at.Poiuytrewq wrote: ↑17 Nov 2023, 11:48 Impressive.
