13th April 2022: Dixmude is still tied up on the North West Wall jetty in Portsmouth Harbour, where Invincible, Illustrious and Ark Royal used to berth. Can we start charging her rent?!

All very well, but you would have thought that Devonport would have been a more appropriate destination for a visit by an LHD.

Thousands of artifacts rescued from the wreck of HMS Invincible have been gifted by the MOD to the National Museum of the Royal Navy.

The ship went down off Portsmouth in 1758. She was launched in 1744 as the French ship L'Invincible, a 74 gun ship of the line, but was captured and refitted into Royal Navy service as HMS Invincible. She was wrecked in 1758 after hitting a sandbank in the Solent.

Forces News has been given exclusive, behind the scenes access to see how the artefacts are being preserved and learn more about a remarkable ship.
