Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
The barge is a Skylift 3000, built by Ravestein in the Netherlands. They've been used in the base before.

Good to see the RN buying kit like this rather than renting/leasing...it always ends up cheaper in the end just to buy.

This is probably behind a paywall but is a link to an interactive graphic of QNLZ. Quite interesting:

A credit to the UK companies who built her, and the sailors who crew her.Bring Deeps wrote: ↑16 Feb 2022, 17:17 This is probably behind a paywall but is a link to an interactive graphic of QNLZ. Quite interesting:

I appreciate the compliments about my old website! I had to discontinue it due to:R686 wrote: ↑06 Feb 2022, 10:57Cheers mate thanks for that, have been looking on off for some timeTimmymagic wrote: ↑06 Feb 2022, 09:48The legendary Navy Matters website from Richard Beedall, sadly no longer operational, but you can find it on the web via archiving....see the below link and save it in your favourites...

1. Work and family demands on my time
2. An increasing demand from people who wanted more frequent updates - it was being incorrectly considered a commercial site
3. I was contacted by the MOD who felt that the site gave a negative perception about the RN. If this continued they could make things difficult for me, e.g. the White Ensign logo is crown copyright - if I continued to use any graphics or images that included this I could be billed.

This is what I'm aware of, though nipper and crew were told to go home and be with your loved ones this weekend. He did indeed do this, and my Weston's Cider supply is certainly depleted now!

Could we temporarily change HMS Richmond's name to HMS Rich Tea in order to fit in with the amusingly named Garibaldi?!

Well, it is a rather small carrier, so the fly(res) are likely to be somewhat squashed.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
There could be some interesting opportunities here with the UK carrier US LHD and Italian Light carrier like we could see the LHD's F-35's move over to POW to allow a better follow of helicopter operations on the LHD and POW acting in the role of fixed wing , AEW and ASW carrier
I would also say the RN is stepping up here with 1 carrier , 1 LPD , 1 LSD , 2 escorts , 1 tanker

I also noted a lot of work on QNLZ as the flight deck is cleared of tents/scaffolding. Could both be out at the same time? This tweet is interesting.

Great shots, I was on Round Tower freezing my knackers off!
As suggested, and nipper confirmed to me over the weekend, QNLZ is leaving Pompey from 1520 tomorrow.
