It's funny, they looked and felt massive when I was on board them, but now they look tiny.

A cold thing to put on the forehead, after a heady night out on the town:

The former national security adviser, Lord Peter Ricketts, believes it still makes sense to send the carrier east as a "symbol of working closely with allies".
[...] But, he adds, "this is a piece of diplomatic theatre, not a military strategy".

OR a

"Giant floating trade mission

But the deployment has as much to do with boosting trade and strengthening diplomatic ties in the region.
[...] In the words of the head of the Royal Navy, Admiral Tony Radakin: "Navies follow trade and trade follows navies."

Ok, Ok, I'll go back to military strategy after this dip into https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-57195317
AND 8-) I promise not to post anything onto the Geopolitical thread, either

We may have the 'Inspiration' class frigates but

Looks like the 'Diversity & Inclusion' class will have to wait.

Having a personal connection with PWLS I must admit to having to step away and even delete responses to a lot of tweets before posting. I get that there are some valid points and worries about leaks, number of aircraft etcetc but you just cannot reason with some twitter warriors with explanations as to why.

Why on earth would/ should you?

All that drivel (the first half dozen or so entries) is just paraphrasing the tabloid front pages; from this year, or the last... or the one before.

If I was still sat at my laptop 7+ hours a day I would happily engage with these people, as I did when 'Dave' from MS regularly rang to say we had a security breach on our broadband and he would resolve it for us if we connected to their computer system.

I have limited access and time at the moment so cannot be arsed. Now that I am doing 9-5 standing at a workbench 5 days a week and being Dad taxi for my Daughters footie training/games I often find myself asleep in front of the TV once I get to sit down!

Anyhow, hope this works, not professional but a personal shot of the meet.

None of my business but I am depressed by the total lack of respect from even respectable blogs and forums for the visit of the PM. He's the UK's military's (esp the Navy) best friend since the CVA's were cancelled over 60 years ago. Would they prefer Corbyn or the new leftie dimwit.

Mind you, this is a country that voted Winston Churchill out of office after the war ended so I shouldn't really be surprised.
