Portsmouth's Victory Jetty was repaired and adapted by a company called APA, who have a website which shows the work they've done:

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Is that the 3rd Phalanx position under the Tarp, or is it the one further outboard and slightly aft? Is the 3rd mount about to make an early appearance?
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Could it be the 30mm mount?Digger22 wrote:Is that the 3rd Phalanx position under the Tarp, or is it the one further outboard and slightly aft? Is the 3rd mount about to make an early appearance?

slightly out the loop on news with the carriers (real life issues keep me busy sadly) but was it revealed what caused the flooding that sent the QE back to Pompy early?

Burst seawater pipe. But no further news on damage, if the repairs have been carried out. Presumably all sorted now.SDL wrote:slightly out the loop on news with the carriers (real life issues keep me busy sadly) but was it revealed what caused the flooding that sent the QE back to Pompy early?

On Twitter, basin trials have been started, my lad was aboard armed with an axe and watching a bloody big rope whilst this was happening!PhillyJ wrote:Yep, it is.Jdam wrote:Got to be getting close to the Prince of Wales going on sea trials?

QE's horn was heard across Portsmouth and Gosport for about 10 seconds earlier this morning.
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
That would suggest her main props are fitted rather than brake props?
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Her props were fitted in the building dock before she was floated. There is a programme called Mega Shippers and one episode had a part about POW being moved out of the dock. There is a scene where it shows the gock being flooded and the props are clearly visible if only fleetingly.

QE on Sunday 18th August 2019. Tent for third CIWS, or just maintenance/repainting?
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Any news on F35 numbers to be taken?
Will they fly into Portsmouth today, or are they more likely to join QE out at see, and with a little more privacy, maybe a day or two after departing?

Seven F-35B's were mentioned for Westlant 19 when Jerry Kyd was CO during Westlant 18.Digger22 wrote:Any news on F35 numbers to be taken?

Jeremy Kyd:
Jeremy Kyd:
"“We will come back (to the US) next September (2019) for operational testing,” Kyd said. “We’ll bring seven jets over and we’re going to start the operationalizing of the ship – learn how to fight the ship and the aircraft together, prove all those comms systems and prove all the gen-five elements.”
There's no way F-35B's will be landing in Portsmouth Harbour. It'll be out at sea like Harriers did with the Invincible's.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Didn't Harriers used to land on Carriers while in Harbour? Certainly they did when the air wings were landed on in Portsmouth for the Falklands, on both Hermes and Invincible, or was that a one off as a show of force for Departure?SKB wrote:Seven F-35B's were mentioned for Westlant 19 when Jerry Kyd was CO during Westlant 18.Digger22 wrote:Any news on F35 numbers to be taken?

It is rare, usually it's more to do with the noise than anything else.
Saying that they landed Apache on HMS Ocean while she was alongside in Devonport a couple of times.
