Maybe the Primary Radar is not transmitting, and just the SSR operating which is low power. But very good question.

After two years of wear and tear on operations the mighty Defender is getting a new lick of paint. Will be looking as good as new in a matter of days.

Looking at the condition of the paintwork I have enclosed this article that suggests the binders used for the R.A.N are more durable and as the R.N may travel to warmer climates perhaps a change is needed

Even the DB7 seems to have come out of retirement> Lessons learnt: old tech can do the job - depending on what the job is
Ever-lasting truths: Multi-year budgets/ planning by necessity have to address the painful questions; more often than not the Either-Or prevails over Both-And.

HMS Dauntless (D33) seen in dry dock at Cammell Laird on 21/9/20. No sign of the hull being cut open for diesel generator removal/replacement as yet. Adjacent is RFA Tidesurge (A138) - she has now been moved from the basin into another dry dock.
