Re: NATO Shared Components
About Eurofighter, France needs a multi-role aircraft, while the other countries wanted a fighter destined for air superiority, if some European countries want to associate with France to build a 6th generation aircraft , It will have to take into account the French needs. Thats what's commonly tho...

Re: NATO Shared Components
The A310 MRTT aren't that old. In AAR terms they've got a long life ahead of them. It may be that the A310 platform may not be the easiest to support for future years. It was no spring chicken when they chose it with the last significant production run being almost 10 years earlier. It might make so...

Re: NATO Shared Components
The European defence is a joke, if there is a war somewhere, the time everyone agrees, the war is over. I believe more in a weapons industry more or less common, but I prefer that France works with the British and the Italians than with the Germans, they are too arrogant I'm afraid on recent eviden...

Germany and Norway will join France and Luxembourg in their European multinational tanker transport program. Launched in 2016, the program initially sought to acquire two Airbus A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft, but this will now be expanded to a fleet of seven. I'm pretty certain F...

I'm amazed they didn't turn off the transponder for the 26knot run I would expect that it would certainly go quiet for any faster then that, if she is capable of exceeding that of course. I'm no naval architect but the calculations to work out a ships max speed based on power and wetted area are fa...

Would also tie in nicely with Frederick "Johnnie" Walker. DSO & 3 Bars. Our most successful U-Boat hunter. Wouldn't that mean calling one HMS Starling? We could even name some of them after WW2 Captains and Admirals. It's about time they had some recognition. HMS Vian, HMS Somerville,...

It would be nice to name them after some of the smaller ships from the Battle of the Atlantic. They deserve recognition as much as the more glamorous names. It would make sense to name them after the 1934 'F' Class destroyers which served on convoy duties in the Atlantic and Med. They were there fro...

Also no room for deck mounted launchers? (I know its a bit redundant with the mark 41 but I cant remember if were in the original design) Looks like they'd have to go behind the aftmost set of Sea Ceptor silos. But at a guess no one is planning on them going there, most recent designs from other na...

Btw what would the multi barrelled objects between the CIWS & rear guns be ? Counter measures ? They're S2170 countermeasures. Surface Ship Torpedo Defence. The large canisters next to the bow Sea Ceptor silos are also countermeasures. They launch a large inflatable radar decoy for SSM's. But.....

I think no one is arguing against, "T23 is capable of 30knots in many case". But, the required numbers do differ between T23, T45 and T26. So, if T23 can go 30 knots in Gib, with so so loaded, maybe T45 could reach 32 knots, and T26 28 knots. But, I guess always T45 and T23 will be faster...

I put a thumbs up for the posting, but to elaborate on the above: - to let the contract (already in place, so on its renewal?) - expand to fixed wing? (that's what most CGs have, in order to get a sensible operating cost mix with rotary - that can do things beyond fixed wing a/c, short of bringing ...

Beef up the Border Force, it needs a full revamp in light of Brexit. Let them operate the Batch 1 rivers & the 1.5 (Clyde?) once the navy are finished with her. I've said it before but the UK is usually pretty good at not having the plethora of law enforcement agencies, but for some reason when...

How stealthy is she? Any info in the public domain about that? She has had reduced observability built into the design, but they'll not be anything in the public domain for a long time, if ever. The counter is that the Germans are the usual suspects for over-engineering. Look who is doing all the sales of cars, tanks, MEKOs... The MEKO are a well designed ship, the modularity concept was far ahead of everyone else (the Danish STANFLEX system is constrained by the fact they really have limi...
