Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
All the armchair quarterbacks seem to be on this forum. Wonder how much actual operational experience they all have...... It's almost as if this forum was for Armchair Admirals and Generals to have a (mostly) peaceful chat about military stuff. While other forums, such as AARSE, are for those that ...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
But that isn't appropriate is it. Inspections carried out weeks ago that find ship isn't fit to sail. Work up carries on regardless until eve of deployment when ship declared unfit. Can't you see that is a problem. If she wasn't fit she wasn't fit. Either the approval\decision process shouldn't tak...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
The Cameron government’s manpower (and capability) reductions are continuing to adversely and severely affect the RN, just as they are the other two armed services. Ironic that the QEC carriers had already been committed to and that the cuts that his government made went way too deep. Now he bestri...

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]
Sigh. No reputable source has said the Type 31's will be getting Mk41's with ExLs. Hence it is a figment of imagination. How the Poles and Saudi's configure their ships has fuck all to do with it. Why do you have to be so obnoxious? How the Saudis and Poles configure their ships is very relevant. T...

3) In reply to Tomuk, Phalanx were removed when PWLS was in Rosyth. They weren't put on when she went to westland because there was no threat and not a lot of time. Now, with great opportunity with here 30-day readiness, installation was about to happen, then presto, she has been emergency deployed...

https://twitter.com/Gabriel64869839/status/1757743574534230221/photo/1 Doesn't seem that huge a project in the scheme of things :( As a German Admiral once said "In Germany we build docks to fit our ships. In England, they do it backwards". Or something like that. In German. It cost as so...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
The RN needs Babcock's to keep the schedule they committed to. So far they've done a poor job on that. Poor, but the best we can expect in a company which had never built any frigate in its history. They are doing their best, I think better than I expected. But still it will never meet the schedule...

Re: Type 32 General Purpose Frigate [News Only]
Discussed a bit upthread, my opinion is that it is complete and utter nonsense, Just like when the RN said the total crew of MROSS would be 15, whereas in reality it is now 76. Made even worse by the fact that he also says it will be T31B2. Sorry for the duplicate :( and I agree, it's totally wishf...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
When will be the T26s and T31s will see IOC? Tricky is the T31's "hand over to RN", which is known to immediately follow the capability improvement period to add CAMM and some sensors/com-suits. 1: It is announced that T26-hull1 will meet IOC on Oct 2028. I understand T26 hull2 will be on...

Re: Type 32 General Purpose Frigate [News Only]
No its nothing to do with Boris. It has always been T31 B2. Radakin has said it is T31 B2. Source? I mean it makes sense but it's not been stated. It has been when he appeared before the defence select committee. To paraphrase what he said. RN were bidding for additional projects and wanted more fr...

Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]
I'm a bit puzzled, how can a T45 be fitted with a Mk 41 when the space for that VLS has been used for CAMM? Great question! The space for the 16x Mk41 cells was actually designed to take 16x A70 cells as opposed to the A50 cells fitted for the Aster15/30. The Aster 70 cells have a footprint that is...
