Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

Also, another (or complimentary) option is to build true multi-role (Arleigh Burke-class type) first class escorts that are built in batches of 12. This in reality would mean ordering another 9 extended T26s (beyond the 3 already ordered) upgrading ASW Radar / missiles / systems; then ensuring the ...

Re: RN anti-ship missiles

Our intern solution is going to the be the sub sonic missile we need, how is this program already getting complicated and going off course at this state. NSM is medium range (~200 km) sub-sonic agile and stealthy ASM, capable of land attack, with a warhead of 125 kg. Re: Type 83 Destroyer (RN) [News Only]

Personally the T83 programme is a test of what the country wants the RN to be over the next 20-30 years. It it wishes to credibly and independently send a task force to take on and expect to defeat a Chinese or (to a lesser extent) Russian force, the T83 needs to be akin to a cruiser in all but nam...

As an LHA, she would not have F35’s either. The original JC will have them and the modified (Ozzie) editions cannot accommodate them ... in their two, different geopolitical zones, I think both are 'right' And we don't need to have that discussion; but will soon be short of assets with which to put...

Sure. But first Flight I wasn't launched until 2003 and commissioned in 2006. And last Flight I has been launched but not yet commissioned.

First Flight II has nt even been launched yet.

Understand your point but I doubt USN would join with RN- we would have to take theirs.

Lesson 1 for the primary and principle defence and security concern of the UK, aircraft carriers in the size and shape of which we purchased are simple not required they are a luxury item. Maybe. Would say adding Aviation Support facilities to one of the Albions would both be costly but also significantly impact the capabilities of the platform; at the very least it would reduce the flight deck (and landing tempo) and restrict the number of RMs that can be accommodated. An Albion + Argus + ...

Whether you airlift in a c-139 or a C-17 is really irrelevant. We are not going to be airlifting medium to latge forces now or in ther future, most likely any system will be moved by see. . Re: RFA Argus (Casualty Receiving Ship / Aviation Training Ship) (RFA)

Looking at the article, I was wandering how RFA is to man the planned assets. RFA (and RN) is in shortage of crew, especially skilled engineers. RFA Argus will be active until 2030, which is good. But, in view of man-power, I think her crew was kept by simply putting Wave Knight into extended readi...
