Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
1. Wouldn't a next gen Gripon need to carry weapons and extra fuel internally for LO? In which case, wouldn't it have to be larger? Absolutely, and that's an area where 2 engines isn't such a disadvantage. Suddenly you have all of that hull volume for fuel and a decent weapons bay. Come to think of...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
Ok, but is the Gripen not significantly less capable than the Typhoon? Massively so. When its loaded with any stores of note its performance isn't going to be sparkling to say the least. It can't escape the lack of thrust, lack of conformal carry etc. It's perfectly find for Sweden or other nations...

Re: Warrior Armoured Vehicle Variants (British Army)
What are the options? It's likely a new Ajax variant, or a new Boxer variant so their is no quick drop in solution. That's two half developed possible solutions, would that take substantially longer than CSP to deliver? Get Ajax as an IFV, carry on with Boxer and take the turrets off Warrior and re...

However this is all water under the bridge, the MoD is stuck with contract. And its important to note that the MoD had no choice. The Treasury is at fault here. MoD's only option to replace the VC.10 and Tristar fleets that were on the cusp of being unable to fly was via a PFI at Treasury insistenc...

phoon with various upgrade proposals. The AMK is interesting. Initially it was all about low speed agility, which didn't seem to interest the RAF, understandably, as the Typhoon is a high energy fighter. Like the F-22 that is where its advantage lies. It will win every fight if it stays in that reg...

The support costs for Typhoon would cripple them, I'm afraid to say second hand F-16 would be their best bet.Dahedd wrote:robably a million reasons why its not practical but I thought I'd ask.

I can understand MMP being developed as it is substantially different to Javelin, MILAN had a decent sales record that would be nice to repeat. But with MBDA already offering Brimstone a...

Then coming back to the numbers of Poseidon would,nt it be more effective and cheaper to equip tankers with the flying boom to increase mission hours and range of the ordered aircraft before purchasing more Poseidons All depends if you think there are enough AAR assets to be sent out to meet Poseid...

Really you ordered in 2017 and 1st aircraft in 2019, 2years bloody good if you ask me. It's actually pretty decent like you say. One of the RAF pilots on Seedcorn has actually now got 1,000 hours on type as well so we're not going to be short of well trained crews. The article also confirms Mk.54 a...
