Re: British Army Future Wheeled APC
That 38t armoured vehicle was always intended to be a glorified Saxon/Fuchs. And it never was an intelligent thing, just as Stryker wasn't. The difference is that most users have now understood it; the British Army no. And that's despite crazy plans about using that very same Saxon not just to get ...

Re: British Army Future Wheeled APC
They are buying a 38 tons armored vehicle and arming it in a way that will reduce it to a glorified Saxon. I will never be able to take it seriously...

Re: Warrior Armoured Vehicle Variants (British Army)
There was such a video. Some images from it are visible in this other video: https://youtu.be/iUaryUqFL5M But i believe those trials came before the decision was made (one hopes for good reasons) to NOT proceed with the remafacture of the existing turret and go with fully new build ones. Suppose the...

Israelis never let go of the 60mm mortar in the turret... it is even in the Namer IFV turret. There was a time in which it was common in british armour too. In fact, i seem to remember that's where the Israelis picked up the habit, although i might be wrong.Turret mounted Mortar

HMS Valiant it is. Not a bad choice at all, but there better be a Warspite in the class. Leaving that name out would be a mistake.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
What's the Italian mix? 60 A and 30 B. Note that Italy has a nuclear sharing role which makes the F-35A indispensable; as well as a far smaller aircraft carrier. Lets face it I don't think the RAF could scrap the only aircraft that can land on these big carriers ?! Scrap it? No, not for a good few ...

Is the current one a PFI? Comes without drivers, I assume (in case it is a PFI) It is a PFI and it includes drivers and maintainers available for up to 9 months when called. They are Sponsored Reserves and come under Army Command when called. The contract ends 1 July 2024. As it stands, 2024 will b...

Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicle Variants (British Army)
Or you could increase the HET and LET fleets and use the wheeled Force as a screen protecting their movement towards the front. That's what Italy's "strike" with Centauro and Puma was about. If MIV was decently armed instead of being an oversized Saxon, the whole thing would be a lot more ...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
And why would the MoD spend millions on redeveloping and rebuilding RAF Marham for a plane the RAF don't want? If this were actually true, the F-35B's would be based at RNAS Yeovilton. Yeah, right. That would mean that the F-35 budget would sit within Navy Command and then there really would not be...

I have no clue where that rumor came from. The FMS approval for up to 2747 vehicles had a unitary price of 376,775 USD, and it included quite a lot of extras, as always with FMS authorizations which tend to aim for the stars as it is easier to buy less than authorized than seek a new authorization, ...

It will also achieve logistical commonality with the Type 23 CSP, which also get the 4000, and with the Type 26.
That can't be a bad thing.

HMS Liverpool for me.
Liverpool's role in the Battle of the Atlantic was huge, even though the cruiser with the same name didn't have a service life long enough to gain an Atlantic battle honor.

They are merely sticking to the planned procurement profile established with Main Gate 5 and already reported on by the NAO. BK-36 to BK-42 follow in Lot 15 with BK-43 to BK-48 in Lot 16. By January 2025, if there are no delays to deliveries, the 48 will have been handed over. 48 enough for 4 Squadr...

I hope one day someone will explain why to operate closer inshore you have to be less equipped, not more. You are basically going up threat, exposing yourself to even more potential dangers, but going in with less instruments to return fire effectively. How is that not a contradiction? I find certai...

US may buy it too since they are struggling to develop the successor AAM to ARMRAAM. I'm not sure they are struggling. They are saying very little about the ongoing programmes for new AAMs, but the programmes exist and are ongoing. Anyway, having JNAAM ready soon would obviously be a good thing for...

There are two 1-year options on top of the 3-years deal for 44.000, so one can hope that in time all the L85s are upgraded. The full lenght rail on top is fundamental for what the army aims to do with fused sights and in-line sights.
