Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]
The Royal Navy wants the Mk 41 on the Type 31 and Babcock are also finalising design activities including integration of Mk 41 VLS but it seems like we are unwilling to take the final step and announce that its going to happen. I guess it start off a bunch of other stuff as we would need for it to h...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Probably an unpopular opinion; cats and traps is an unhelpful distraction from developing the carriers I do agree, I would love to have two cats and traps carriers but we have been through the mill with these carriers, with defects, possibility of only getting one and other scares, now that we have...

Re: General UK Defence Discussion
Its something that's been on my mind for a while, we have all called for more equipment/funding for the armed forces but are we saying (for example) if due to world events we were order another 8 type 26's we wouldn't have the manpower to use them?

I wonder if its more of a bargaining chip for the FCAS rather than any real desire to switch tempest.

Excluding Govan and Rosyth, I don't think there is any other Scottish Shipyards except Ferguson Marine.

Its now a Catch 22, they have no work for after the ferries so the work force are in no hurry to finish them, they cant get more work cause of how they have handled these ferries.

Is this everything coming home to roost? It feels as though UK decisions just now are being made on what can be done not what should be done; resource-based rather than strategy-led.

I wonder if the future cruise (Low observable, subsonic) is going to be a product improved storm shadow. I cant see how else they will get it in service by 2028.

Re: MBDA Storm Shadow Missile (RAF)
Bear in mind that the Storm Shadow sent to Ukraine are all non-MLU'd missiles so will have been discarded anyway in the very near future. Given how many have been fired off in Ukraine it shows how many didn't have the mid life upgrades :problem: I take MBDA is busy with other weapons right now?

Not just the subs.
Storm Shadow is just destroying them.
How we don't have a dozen countries lining up to buy these things is just beyond me.
