Re: New Zealand Defence Force
What are the RNZAF going to use these for, multi engine training? Bit of everything really, as you pointed out MEPT, light transport, passengers etc etc As far as I'm awe're they are replacement for the B200's https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/rnzaf-leases-four-king-air-b200s-for-training-...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Sink her, no. But take a good old fashioned look at her bottom, propellers and noise signature is something they'd probably love doing. As for terrorists not reaching her in Atlantic, yeah, probably. But if they added and qualified the light guns I'd be happier, frankly. Yes that updating one's thr...

Re: Astute Class Attack Submarine (SSN) (RN)
Doesn't even come close to an SSN, the only thing that does is another SSN Not 100% correct the SSN has obvious capability gains in power generation and the indiscrestion rates(hold down)and the like, but all submarines length of patrols are dictatated by food and crew well being. But in saying tha...

Re: Australian Defence Force
I am surprised the ADF is looking for an tracked IFV. Surely developing variants of the winner of the 8x8 for the role would make more sense. There are enough issues shipping the M1s to where they are needed, and then there is the need for transporters to move around in theatre. At least with the 8...

Re: Astute Class Attack Submarine (SSN) (RN)
Although it appears that the 7th A-boat is about to be signed off, in an alternate reality, would it have been more use to the RN to have cancelled it and used the ca. £1.5bn to fund an SSK programme of say 4 or 5 boats? Or indeed, would it be better now to can the T31 programme and spend the £1.25...

Can't remember is she ice strengthened? Not sure. But surely if she wasn't that would have made the rebuild even more ridiculously expensive? As it stands the entire project was barking mad, but sadly not a surprise in Canada's crazy world of defence procurement. For the cost of one Asterix they co...

Is there any life left in the previous gen Ozzie MPAs? To build a bridge for NZ and spread that 2 bn hit on procurement budget over a longer period (rather than stopping everything else)? Inevitably, in the long run there is sense in the commonality and inter-operability: "It was unsurprising ...

Re: CANADA
es or is the RCAF using the Asterix for? Unless they've made a mistake in the copy it seems a little odd. Do the Canadian's have any remote radar stations or airbases that need fuel re-supply from time to time? If they do I would have thought commercial charter would have been cheaper. Can't rememb...
