In really hoping now that with the Canadian order HMG will look a putting more money in and increase the T26 order.
Well not only have the least T26s out there but Canada will have more high end combatants than us.

Re: Type 31 General Purpose Frigate [News Only]
I like the a140 and think it’s the way we should off done type 26, however I just can’t see it winning the uk type 31 contest, if it did and delivers there would be serious pressure on type 26 numbers a situation the RN will not want to arise. I like the A140 too but really it should be better opti...

Are the French replacing the Caesar 6x6 with the new 8x8 or are they to compliment eachothet ? For Bush Wars 6x6 For real ones, their heavy brigades will have 8x8 So they'll be keeping both to compliment each other then, makes perfect sence if you've got the money to do so. I was reading up on the ...

Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicle Variants (British Army)
This does all point to the idea that the British Army could truly consolidate is AFV fleets on basically two platforms, that being Ajax and Boxer, and all the benefits such a decision would bring. This is what Iv been saying for ages, the entire medium armour fleet should be based around just 2 pla...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
They value the extra landing spot for helicopters on a flat deck more than the benefits of the ski jump to the small fixed wing force. The LHD/LHAs are landing ships first and foremost. If that were true, the first two Americas would have a well deck. One additional spot would see a departure every...

I would like the UK to seriously look at buying enough Caesars to replace the 105mm Light Gun in one of out remaining Artillery regiments to provide some more mobile heavy fire support for both the current high readiness light formations and the planned medium formations. I would also like to see t...

I think they would also be prefect for urban warfare, being able to get in and out of smaller streets at much greater ease than Ajax and even boxer. The beauty in the Scorpion project is that the French have managed to write in the contract that no single unit can come in at more that €1m or around...

Some of the varients of the foxhound alredy developed in to prototypes. Plus the possibility of a 6x6 variant. To me it's perfect for what we need with an already set surply chain in place and a understanding of it used in operations. This is were HMG should sit up and say you know what it's create ...

Things like tax receipts are exactly the type of thing the Mod is not allowed to take into consideration when awarding contracts. This is laid down in the rules they have to follow. Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
I do however like the idea of using an existing ASW hull design for a tier 2 escort, this is why Iv proposed a shorted stripped down T26 as the base for such a vessel. Not only would this give comonality among the fleet but should also help reduce design cost closer to 1 hull cost rather than the n...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
I think a new ASW frigate really needs to be 130 meters by 18 meters beam Pretty much a T23 then, sounds perfect! (Still disappointed no one proposed a new build T23) Type 23 with a more streamlined, less cluttered super structure. Job done ? Is that really a good idea not because of the the age of...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
Careful Jake1992, we're in fantasy territory  My concern is the 130m X 20.8m would take a lot of horses to get to escort speed even with CODAD or CODELAD. Much easier if the full 149.9m T26 hull was used. Without a change in direction there is no prospect of a Type 27 design based on the T...

The Aus T26 packs more of a punch No it doesn't. UK has a capacity for 144 air to air missiles, or 48 air and 24 cruise. Australia has a capacity for 128 air to air missiles, or 32 air 24 cruise. 32 x mk41 8 x canister laurcher 2 x reloadable torpeod tubes That's a bigger punch than 24 x mk41 48 x ...
