Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

Well between 12 and 14 high end ASW/GP platforms and 6+ AAW platforms would see the RN in good stead. In fantasy land we would still be the worlds largest navy and Queen Elizabeth would be a CVN, but we aren't and never will be. What the RN can do in the future will be far different f...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
If you build ships more quickly without increasing the number ordered, you are going to end up with a Stop/Start programme. 10 x T26 (plus 6 x T45) will not give the number of Escorts "currently deemed necessary". That would require 13! Even the "19" are grossly inadequate. The o...

Re: Brexit - The UK's EU Referendum & Withdrawal
The logical thing is to dispense with those parliamentary "creatures" who feel they have the divine right to redefine what people actually voted for. People did know very well what they were voting for as the government of the day spelt out the risks in a booklet sent to every household in...

Re: Brexit - The UK's EU Referendum & Withdrawal
A Remainer pandering to Remainer "concerns" that undermined a sensible negotiating strategy. Thereby surrendering from a position of weakness, not negotiating from a position of strength. Anyway, you should not need me to tell you, the evidence is clear for all to see.

Re: Brexit - The UK's EU Referendum & Withdrawal
You must be looking at what is happening in a mirror. It is the Remainers, who have been trying to frustrate Brexit at every turn, causing the Government to adopt a negotiating strategy that could only have led to an unacceptable deal. They then try to rule out an exit without a deal. They are showi...

Re: Brexit - The UK's EU Referendum & Withdrawal
The problem right from the beginning has been the MAYbee. She did not realise that Brexit did not mean Brexit ......... It meant "Leave". She was thus able to fashion it into a Fudge. A Fudge is just not acceptable. Which Government gave a Fig about the opinions of those who opposed member...

Re: Dreadnought Class SSBN
Usual process would have been for the French to build and name such an SSBN, and for us to Re-name her after taking her as a "Prize" following misfortune at sea. I can see thee attraction of saving the construction cost of a fourth Dreadnought Class, but I don't think Trident D5 would fit ...

Re: Dreadnought Class SSBN
If we must not offend anyone, even down to what our navy's ships are called then maybe we should stop naming them at all. Really these people must need to be "offended" more severely and more often, to build up their immunity to it.
