You are not ever deploying every aircraft you have at a base certainly not this one and certainly not at this point in its service life. Getting 7 deployed will be challenging enough
That is the point. If the squadron is deployed to the Carrier, the Carrier becomes their base.

And persuade BAE to adopt a more favourable (to HMG) pricing for it's Warships, in view of the removal of what, in effect has become a monopoly. Competition does not drive prices up. If competition is harnessed properly, all who deserve to, should benefit.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

A Eureka Moment! The USMC beefing it up will mean that there will be more than 7 x F35B involved during trials with QE for Westlant '19. My earlier statement was that we had 9 at Marham. The unspoken part was that it may well be even more than that; at least at times. If a squadron is going to be de...

We do actually have 9 at RAF Marham. Are you suggesting that 2 of them are nothing more than Gate Guards already?

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Exactly because of this conundrum I the reason why I have always believed that we (and NATO) need three x CSGs. Yes we agreed major co-operation with the French, but they then cancelled their second Carrier. If they (the French) also had 2 x CSGs, then between us we might have enough. Can we be cert...

Or maybe even a "3 x sub-type" T31E, reflecting the inadequate numbers of T26 & T45 1. ASW - WIith a larger Hangar, Merlin & ASROC along with Harpoon successor. 2. AAW - With an enhanced Sea-Ceptor Load-out along with Harpoon successor. 3. GP - In it's true meaning a "Jack of ...

How much would this "Marinisation" cost? Is that one reason for not doing it? Could a possible second reason for not doing it be that the Chinooks will only be a short term solution to the heavy lift from QEC & Amphibs and that before long we will be looking at the MV22 Osprey for this...

I wonder how many F35Bs QEC will need before the sortie rate overtakes that of the Rafale's. The shame lies squarely on those responsible for the non-arrival of CVA01 and (CVA02 / CVA03). I still strongly believe that a third QEC should have been built (for the RN). A workable solution mig...

And goodness knows what the Press will make of it, when we supply a squadron of F35B to embark on a US LHD. If the press want to continue to make themselves irrelevant, that is up to them. Let us not lose sight of what is really important, to get the earliest experience of operating with a significa...
