Re: Turkish Armed Forces
The Turks are on a mission to overhaul their defence infrastructure and remove as much of the American "veto" over their defence and foreign policy as possible. If you consider they are a country of avbout 85 million, with an econonmy of that by "PPP" is similar to the UK - then ...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
This why Tempest has to be ITAR free !!!!! If it is not - then the Americans have a veto on the sale of the Tempest which then allows them to pimp their wares to them.

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
An interesting Twitter thread, touching on Sweden's perspective of Tempest and where they see themselves in connection to the project: https://twitter.com/GarethJennings3/status/1563129008354897920?t=3lF_kwasMpazUP7kWgddeg&s=19 "We are not out of the programme, but there has been a hiberna...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
Excellent news. With Japan onboard, it does help derisk the programme as they have a more mature approach to development commitments than the approach the French/Germans take.

Re: The war in Ukraine
but the real question is what does Ukraine have that let them hit targets at that range + distance !!!!!
That is no clumsy russian dropping a fag or a weapon in the wrong place - those are military hits for sure.

Shocking - truly shock - no rules for the russians at all.
This is why i am in favour of sending as much as ukraine can absorb so that the ukranians can throw out these invaders from their homelands..

https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/our-best-look-yet-at-chinas-j-35-carrier-capable-stealth-fighter Interesting read - China is really starting to go places with her aviation industry - and has truly left Russia behind interms of airframes, and avionics design. Re: Indian Armed Forces
The war in Ukraine has not been a good advertising board for Russian weapons for sure. India is looking to diversify so the era of buying another new type of fighter jet from Russia is over. India is looking to have a make in India at the core of every procurement. Buying a USA fighter will be an in...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
Good to see positive news on Tempest - i do truly hope that Sweden and Italy continue. Given the recent UK / Sweden(+Finland) defence pact - i suspect they will continue their involvement. Italy is less predictable to me.

I just hope the new coup-conspirators of Rushi and Javid do not get a look in as the new PM and also do not ever get any high office of state ever again - ever - then i wont be as angry... Interesting developments by Turkey - very close to be able to field the bulk of its armed forces from its own resources at the rate that they are progressing.

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
I am shocked people think that Germany is a viable industrial partner given their decision making over Ukraine.
Best the UK keeps Germany and France at arms length until Tempest is done - and then they are welcome to buy them off manufacturing lines in the UK ..

Looks like a good tank. Hopefully the UK can get back to designing its own tanks after Challenger 3 is done. Best to not rely on Germany for the next generation seeing how they have behaved in supplying Ukraine ... This does feel like fallout from French posturing over the FCAS programme to me ?? Th...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
I would have no issue with both Germany and Spain joining the development phase of Tempest. It would be the production phase where I would want to lock both down to whatever number they decided to purchase to ensure we did not repeat the issues that arose in the Eurofighter programme. I see these t...

Well apart from Jaguar they’ve developed everything else on their own, and sold mostly outside Europe, “solo SCAF” would be business as usual. Re: MBDA Brimstone Missile (RAF)
The other part of the equation for Brimstone is how is the initial targetting done? I guessing UAV? If so - then that could suggest integration with TB2's or other UAV's.
What has the UK provided to Ukraine that could provide the initial targetting?

More Northern Europe than Eastern but thought this was interesting commitment.
