Seems perfectly reasonable to suggest that the people who are involved in this programme dont know what they are doing either. Does it? How wide are you casting that net? Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicles (British Army)
And once again “experts” prove that they don’t know what Gross Vehicle Weight means. It's pretty funny reading the combined thoughts of journalists and politicians trying to make technical comments and missing the mark. Further proving you don't need to have a clue what you're talking about as long...

Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicles (British Army)
All we ever hear about is MOD gold plateing, endless lists of requirments etc, etc. We are told thats why everything takes so long. Then whenever they commit to get something it turns into a total gang fuck. The disconnect is massive, it makes no sense at all. British taxpayers fork out 40bln a year...

Re: RBSL Challenger 3 Main Battle Tank (British Army)
Im just wondering if there is any possibility that another country would take the spare CH2's and potentially have them brought up to CH3 standard? How many CH2's still exist? 400 odd were knocked out originally i think, are they still in a yard somewhere or were they scrapped? I wonder if RBSL woul...

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)
Most modern turrets and RWS are stabilised, the former more so than the latter. The Lance-R turret made by Rheinmetall and installed on the Boxer can be manned of unmanned but both version can accurately hit targets whilst on the move. The Warrior turret was not revolutionary, its FCS and stabilisa...

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)
Can't be true surely. What were you expecting? Cancelling Warrior CSP on the grounds of not enough money would somehow result in there being enough money for a brand new vehicle and a brand new turret? I was totally behind the Warrior upgrade. After that i was hopeing they would use the cannons on ...

Just read over on Defence Journal the army are looking to sell the CT40 cannons that are left now Warrior has been canned. They quote Janes saying theres no plans for an IFV Boxer.
Can't be true surely. What a fucking shitshow.

Re: Integrated Review (previously SDSR 2020)
Just read the Times article in paper form.
Not to much detail as one would imagine.
They are saying 4 battalions of 250 bods.
Seperate selection course.
Open to every unit in the army but looking for older people that have already done tours, intelligence and skills etc.
We shall see.

Interestingly, The Times is reporting the creation of a Ranger type regiment in the IR. 4 battalions of 250 soldiers in a Brigade. Recruiting from across the army.

Re: Integrated Review (previously SDSR 2020)
Seriously depressing list from the Times. Im dreading the day now.
I just can't see how at every review the armed forces get smaller and people except it. Force levels that were deemed minimums in the past get thrown by the wayside.
Sooner or later this 'clever' thinking will run up against reality.

The point is weather it is eurofighter or frigates or tanks work share is now a thing in most projects and is doable Yes, work share is common and how modern systems now are built. Does this vehicle shown in the clip above differ greatly in capabilities from Mastiff, which we have hundreds of?
If so how?
We have the best part of 1000 UOR vehicles in fleet now. Aren't these already doing whats needed?

Re: Warrior Armoured Vehicle Variants (British Army)
The issue i have is year after year after year nothing comes into service. Actually an awful lot comes into service each year, e.g. SSNs, River class OPVs, QEC, F35, A400M, P8 etc. You are right however that the army does seem notably absent in the list of successes for big ticket items. A lot of t...

Re: Warrior Armoured Vehicle Variants (British Army)
Maybe off topic slightly but my question but Warrior is part of it. The UK spends 40bl plus each year on defence. That gets split between the three services. Out of that split each service has a chunk for new equipment and support. I'll say first i have no idea what each split comes to. So, the ques...

Almost like the thing everyone with a brain has been saying for years that this ridiculous idea of fighting tank divisions with nothing more than Boxers armed with 50 cals is a bad idea... Amen to that. The amount of masturbation thats going on over Boxer at the moment is unreal. Very well armoured...
