Re: Storm Shadow Missile (RAF)
Probably not best to air that really. OPSEC. All Are there any reliable figures as to numbers of Storm Shadow purchased originally and numbers retained after the upgrade? I would have thought the RAF has expended a decent number during Iraq/Libya/Syria. Thanks It's public knowledge that France went...

Re: Panavia Tornado (RAF)
News in that four Tornados joined the attack on Syria this morning joining French and US forces. The questions would be what weapons did they use? Storm Shadow most likely? Also as promised did Russia try to counteract with S400?? If they didnt try to counteract as promised they have lost face in a ...

Re: Mid-term review for the Strategic review?
The only thing that would help the Armed Forces is for Russia to invade the Baltics. Then charge everyone who is or has been in Government and any dealing with defence regardless of how small and charge them with manslaughter for the troops lost on the grounds of criminal negligence. If Health and ...

If the Navy could in theory find 2 Billion to buy 5 SSK off the shelf somewhere, does anyone have an idea how much the operating cost of said fleet would be each year??? How about manning requirements???
Is this idea super Fantasy Fleets or in any way doable??

Re: British Army Future Wheeled APC
Why the demand to replace Warrior? Surely that's the least of the Army's many problems. Its a great vehicle and kept me alive many times, my former collegues still love it. Warrior 2 should be fantastic. Why pay double for MIV than a Warrior upgrade when there are nearly 800 Warriors knocking aroun...

Re: British Army Future Wheeled APC
I know the plan as stands is for two AI. Surely though if Strike was canned we could afford the current three AI to be brought up to standard. Warrior/ABSV upgrade has got to be half the price of Boxer. The money will go a hell of alot further. We are getting Boxer regardless of Strike. They were o...

Re: British Army Future Wheeled APC
We're only getting two AI Brigades, but at least they would more likely to be properly equipped if as a result we canned the Strike Brigades. I know the plan as stands is for two AI. Re: British Army Future Wheeled APC
I agree, money is the key, and as with other threads, and using a glass half full approach, we are in a take form Perter to pay Paul scenario to gain any improvements. That is the reason I favour bailing on the Warrior and minimising Ajax and going full tilt on the MIV. We cannot afford to do both ...

Re: British Army Future Wheeled APC
If the army were to go ahead and buy a couple hundred of the base APC version with a 50cal for the Strike Brigades 1) once its done this fast, long range road move across Europe, what does it do when it gets there other than getting twatted by Russian armour??? 2) For a multi mil unit price, does it...

Re: British Army Future Wheeled APC
What we currently have roughly 760 - warriors 590 - Ajax 800 - bulldog 550 - Mastiff + ridgeback I'd like to look at replacing all the Warriors plus half the bulldog fleet with a continuation of the Ajax, so say a total of of around 1700 Ajax in service of the varying types ( 350 Reece, 950 AFV and...

Thats the point though isnt it. They arent doing either the AI right or the Strike. Can Strike and get the three AI brigades properly up to strenght with Chally upgrade, Warrior 2, ABSV, Ajax. Theres zero point in trying to do everything and doing it badly. The 4 billion mooted cost of Boxer would c...

So 3 Billion or so for the two strike Brigades on Boxer??? Will the money get found to do them properly? Im saying no. No direct fire version, no turreted version, no ATGW. Tremendous news if it happens.
If the Saudi order comes off how long would the production line be open then as an estimate???
Also, if the Belgium and Germany orders happened how would that effect the production runs in the various countries?
Could we be talking production past 2025? 2030?

I think Gordon Brown actually turned OFF the taps as he refused to fund any of the SDRs fully during his time in office. The only exception was UORs for Iraq and Afghanistan. To clarify i meant Gordon Brown turning on the taps in general government spending ie the NHS etc. He went from a 2% GDP per...
