Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

I am very surprised that all the F35Bs will be soley owned by the RAF I would of thought it would of been better to have a joint ownership to stop any rivalry getting in the way and to make clear it's a equal partnership

Re: British Army Future Wheeled APC

This is another area deeply in need to a long term strategic plan. We wasted so much time and money messing about selecting a 8x8 vehicle that it appears we’re now starting to mess about with artillery options now too. We went for boxer and that’s fine should of never left but now every single weap...

How does the boxer 155mm compare to ( what I'd consider ) the other main contender the archer class ?

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

A question Iv been wondering could the QEs have the 20m odd infront of the forward island added as per the orginal design if ever desired to increase the capacity ?

If so how much do we think it'd cost and how long would it take per carrier ?

Or would I be cheaper to just build new ?

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

People are in for real shock with what is considered “normal” fast jet deployments if we’re looking for numbers of fastjets in double figures deploying anywhere. Normal uk fastjet squadron deployments is 8 a/c only rising to 10 if high intensity sortie generation is required. Really I thought the i...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Is that 40 F35s or 40 aircraft over all ? If it's 40 over all I call bull as the RN would never design a carrier to operate 36 F35s but only plan on 4 helos to cover ASW AEW and GP let alone adding AAR and COD carrier Because the normal plan is for 24 F-35s and helicopters. 36 F-35s is in the absol...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

The standard peace time load out is over 40 aircraft that has been put out by the RN The capatain of QE said during an interview that the she could operate 70 aircraft at her max. He said carry, not operate. 40 is the wartime load... He said carry in reply to the interviewer asking carry not unders...

To be fair the Mars SSS design that's been floating around for years looks very much like a modern fort Victoria just focused on solid stores.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

I do belive that the designers and RN took into account personal when designing them. Even on the 36 F35 load out you'd still be over 100 bunks short on your figures and if you take in to account they were designed to carry 250 RM aswell then you'd be very short. But they are now having mods to tak...

Also in the U.K.D.J Nov 28 2017 George Allison " The term now used for the carriers embarked squadrons is carrier air wing (cvw) . The vessels are capable of deploying a variety of aircraft in large numbers up to a maximum in the upper fifties in surge conditions" So we are see a right mi...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Posts like this should be banished down into the fantasy thread hell hole. QE is designed to operate up to 36 F35b and 4 Merlin. Studies have shown that 36 F35b flying cyclic ops would not also allow deck space for 9 Merlin flying ASW ops at the same time. There might be the space to store 9 Merlin...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

I look to judge it on what fire power each could put out of properly equipped. For me if money was there the QEs could be loaded out as such: 42 x F35B 6 x F35B ( electronic warfare upgrade ) 5 x EV-22 for AEW 2 x V-22 for AAR 2 x V-22 for COD 9 x Merlin ASW 4 x GP aircraft That load out seems to o...

Maybe if Russia wants a new carrier or 2 they should ask India to build them 40 to 45,000 ton able to operate 40 or so aircraft That's one option or they could ask China, but I just can't see them doing it for national pride sake. I can only see 4 nations tops have "super" carriers in the...

The T45 is still seen as the best AAW platform in the world with its radar set up, down grading from that would be a backwards step end of. Exactly, so there must be an ongoing focus on retaining the top level capability but in more cost effective platforms. Using a universal hull form such as the ...

Jake 1992 Type 45 carries anti ship missiles already and only had the torpedos deleted to save money. The potiential loadout on a type 26 is higher than on a type 45 s...

Re: Fantasy T31 and Fantasy Fleet Builder [New]

Jake 1992 Why does it need to have 96 is that because that’s whats on a n American ship? Personally I don’t see having 48 silos on type 45 as a problem at all. Type 26 will have 48 caam missile and 24 mk41 launchers and I believe the aus one has 8 traditional anti ship missile box launchers also. T...
