Re: Type 45 Destroyer (Daring Class) (RN) [News Only]

Good job we only have six of them to update then isn’t it! Wise and foresightful decision by the HMG. France has only two. Italian as well. They teamed up to make it 4. But still RN has 6. Not bad? Britain has two large carriers. French and Italian carriers have self-defence missiles ...

New Sea Viper capability on 2028. Re: Turkish Armed Forces

Hope they are getting a lot of support etc for $23bn..... just seems like a lot of wonga !!! How do midsized countries like Turkey just casually spend $23 Billion on upgrading their F16 fleet along with all the other programs they have? Isn't Turkey supposed to be going thorugh an economic crisis w...

Will T-31/26 take over CAMMs from T23 or they will get new ones? The missiles are just unloaded from the ship and put back in the stockpile. Here is a missile being loaded onto HMS Dragon. Similar procedure for CAMM on T23. https://twitter.com/WarshipPorn/status/1289116407846838273 I'm asking, beca...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

I’m not sure what you mean by additional AAW. Simply that what RN needs is another six T45 as was originally planned. Clearly that’s impossible but 6x T31 with the Iver Huitfeldt upgrades is eminently possible. A mix of CAMM and CAMM MR would give RN a Frigate with perhaps 64x quad packed CAMM and ...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

...And now, the biggest priority is 57/40 mm guns? OK, your 2 p. Not sure what is the point of argue. Replacing 4.5inch gun of T45 with a 57mm gun will 1: enable ~10 years early retirement of the vintage, not-so-capable gun from the fleet, when T23 disbands 2: will release a few (per hull) crew fro...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

What the RN needs is to stop wasting money. IMHO, there's no sense to throw good money after bad one. They decided to put the 4,5 in gun on T45 more than 20 years ago, and the choice, while it could have been better one, also wasn't really a bad one, T45 destroyers didn't use the Kryten gun a lot (...

Re: Caribbean

You repeated posts are bringing me to the conclusion that you think the RN should sit at home doing nothing. Not at all - what I don’t agree with is to pretend you can do things half cocked. If the UK is serious then it should deploy tier one warships , ground troops and a RAF attachment at short n...

For my money there is no chance of the Houthis heeding this warning (in fact they might escalate their attacks as a show of defiance) and therefore strikes by the US, UK and possibly France (although they are a puzzling absence from the signatories) are likely imminent: https://twitter.com/National...

Re: River Class (OPV) (RN)

Don't know, maybe. I certainly hope so. But, 16 is still too small number for anything serious. Maybe for air defence of the carrier itself, but that's it. Where did you get 16 from? You don't think that all 24 of 24 will be permanently available? Having a 2/3 availability is a very good number. ;)

Yeah, sorry. I meant fighter jets. More than 8 of them. All with UK markings. :o Good thing we have more than 30. 24 in 25 though. I know. Maybe what the RB2's need is… What the RB2 needs is LRG(N) over the horizon. A carrier would be better, no need for UK boots on the ground and this situation is exactly why the UK has carriers. I would also not class the 114mm as a credible offensive weapon anymore as modern land based artillery out ranges it The 127mm on T-26 will change this as with Vulcano rounds it make 90+ km's The key word in that phrase is "modern". What aspects of the Venzualan armed forces can realistic...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

I'd be much happier with a T23GP. Why? If you sent a T23 is would be seen as an escalation and colonial style interference. If you are not intending to start something don’t raise the stakes, by all means have SSNs / CSG in your back pocket if someone else starts something, but this isn’t about the...

The craft was launched well before reaching ithe ramp. I am afraid it seems like a lot of talk about nothing to me! IMHO, not so much talk about nothing. Did you see how fast did it fly up when taking off, with presumably carrier turned its course into the wind. The whole configuration of the...
