I doubt it, it will be kicked into the long grass for the next government to try and figure out how to pay for it....

My guess is the whole thing will be reduced to a rolling lease deal for a minimum number of medium helicopters

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]

Sigh. No reputable source has said the Type 31's will be getting Mk41's with ExLs. Hence it is a figment of imagination. How the Poles and Saudi's configure their ships has fuck all to do with it. Why do you have to be so obnoxious? How the Saudis and Poles configure their ships is very relevant. T...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)

Maybe that's the tempest demonstration model that base are going to use as test in a couple of years but the GCAP model will be totally different in future IDK to be honest, I thought of that too, but we have already seen the 10m+ inlets for the tempest demonstrator and I don't think those will fit...

Re: General UK Defence Discussion

Well if you follow through on his suggestion the outcome would just be sending the extra 2% straight to the states. In many instances this is exactly what is required. • Double the P8 fleet • Double Wedgetail procurement • Double Protector procurement • Add Sea Guardian or similar ideally STOL • Pu...

Re: General UK Defence Discussion

You can always rely on Mr Page to contradict himself and miss the point entirely. Perhaps but it’s raises at least one interesting question. If U.K. Defence Spending rises to 4% or 5% of GDP what is the plan to implement such a huge increase in spending. “Britain must rearm”……great but none of the ...

Re: Brexit - The UK's EU Referendum & Withdrawal

The fact that South Africa has cozied up to Russia and China is a concern as with the Suez blocked this is the only real alternative way to get goods to Europe in a timely manner. Well, the SA government has gone to hell in a handcart, how they have the nerve to criticise others when rampaging corr...

Re: Brexit - The UK's EU Referendum & Withdrawal

Have the Huthis attacked anything not connected to the US/UK by the way? Of the 22 ships attacked so far, 5 were warships (US,UK, France), so I'll leave them out The rest are owned by companies, with shareholders from all over. Ascertaining ownership is difficult and likely to come up with small pe...

Lol. How authoritative! Carnegie thinktank of course being literal Washington beltway foreign policy cabal insiders who desperately want to go back to the 1950s but instead see even the status quo slipping away in front of them.. All that's left is the UK hugging the US extra tight and spinning the...

https://twitter.com/NavyLookout/status/1751175348153151947 This decision needs to be reversed, to at least the original out of service date of 2043, otherwise we will have only 13 frigates with a 15+ miles Sea Ceptor missiles, without the necessary radar for longer range missiles and the gap in Typ...

https://carnegieeurope.eu/strategiceurope/91466 UK-EU Security Cooperation After Ukraine As in most things defence related, the UK led the way in Europe over Ukraine, while the cumbersome and slow EU dithered. I notice lots of criticism around the bazars about the weapons outload on RN vessels (lately aboutT45 HMS Diamond), with same commentators staying strangely silent on the lesser outload of allied vessels. https://twitter.com/NavyLookout/status/1749359803112083484 So far only USN and RN have sent sh...

Re: RED SEA - Houthi attacks

Surely Egypt are not going to object? The houthi attacks are on shipping that use the suez canal, if this effects shipping wont it effect Egypts income? You don’t even need Egypt if it came to it. They can transit Israeli airspace as they have done for the past 3300 days for attacks in Syria and Ir...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

I’m not sure what you mean by additional AAW. Simply that what RN needs is another six T45 as was originally planned. Clearly that’s impossible but 6x T31 with the Iver Huitfeldt upgrades is eminently possible. A mix of CAMM and CAMM MR would give RN a Frigate with perhaps 64x quad packed CAMM and ...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon (RAF)

I am not optimistic about KSA placing a follow on order unless price is no barrier. Same thing for another RAF order. Why pay for 4G Typhoon when 5G F-35 is cheaper, especially if F-35A.
