Re: EU Combined Military thread.
The time has come to explain to our partners and the services of the European Commission that the first imperative of a government is to ensure the protection of the property and people who live on its territory. France must therefore explain, gently but firmly, to Brussels and to Germany, that it i...

Re: UK Complex Weapons Thread
France and the United Kingdom intend to develop jointly several new missiles for replace the SCALP/Storm Shadow cruise missiles and anti-ship missiles Exocet and Harpoon. It is question of sharing the work by reorganizing the French and British subsidiaries of the European missile manufacturer MBDA ...

Re: General UK Defence Discussion
http://www.janes.com/article/56251/uk-spending-review-outlines-3-1-real-term-defence-increase From an article in Jane's 360, the budget of defence, there is one year was around £34 billion. France also according to NATO has a huge budget, but the truth is that it is not higher than £28 billion curr...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
The Sea Venom is complementary of the heavy anti-ship missile Exocet. It allows to destroy patrol boats, speedboats and small craft easy to handle, as part of piracy, drug trafficking, from the helicopters embarked on surveillance frigates. Of course, with a salvo of missiles it is possible to destr...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
From what I know the MU90 torpedo is only used against submarines. Sea Venom missile can be launched by a Wildcat, but only against the ships of less than 500 tonnes. In the case of heavy ships, we have the Exocets which can be carried by aircraft. Italian Navy uses its anti-ship missile Marte Mk2/s...

Re: Army 2020 Refine
You are right LordJim, but It seems to me that it is not money that you miss, it is a guideline, because the share of GDP that the United Kingdom attribute to the Ministry of Defence is more important than that of France. This story of FRES, UV or SV, MIV, MRV-P has no sense. Nobody seems to know wh...

cost difference from cheaper foreign build covered by Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy for example then go for it. That's pretty much what the French do, and it appears to work for them, but subsidising industry isn't really a thing for Tories, so it seems like a long shot....

Re: N.A.T.O. News & Discussion
If NATO is dissolved by Trump, it will be necessary to make multinational agreements between the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Poland and France, for creating an expeditionary force by multiplying the joint exercises and increase the budgets of defence to 2% of GDP or more. In France all the polit...

Re: Ocean Class Helicopter Carrier (LPH) (RN)
It makes no sense, a ship that has not yet 20 years old. Say that it will replaced by one of two aircraft carriers is a nonsense again, the aircraft carrier must be alternately at sea, and the other in technical stop, as part of the maintenance activities in operational condition. It is in February ...

Re: French Armed Forces
The difference between a Crotale and a Mistral, one is a missile weighing 85 kgs with radar guidance and the other weighs 18 kgs is a fire and forget and can be used with a simple tripod by a soldier. That's why the Crotale is no longer in service in the French army.

Re: French Armed Forces
About the future of french air force, there are drones. Air defense systems, such as S300 and S400 Russia, are increasingly accessible to all States. A UCAV, relatively invisible to radar, flying at low altitude offers a guarantee to continue to penetrate a number of enemy defenses. I do not know wh...

The alliance between the German Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and French Nexter will not permit to rationalize a common offer before ten years. Nexter is engaged in the Scorpion program to modernize the French army, KNDS will not be able to propose joint projects that by 2025 or 2030. In particular for imag...
