Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft General Discussion

So the problem reside in the work relationship between us Europeans and the Asians.

Then the answer IMHO is Singapore. They have the skill both to manage us westerns and them.

Being Singapore quite small we could assign it the specific job to "make it work" between UK/ITA and KOR/JAP.

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft General Discussion

I wouldn't say thin. It has passed 30 years from TF start the world economy has changed. Europeans economies like polish or spanish ones have become more relevant. We have the swedish But mostly I would try with the asians. Korea, Japan and Singapore. It would be nice to write South Africa, Brasil, ...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft General Discussion

Going back the the RAF next manned platfrom, BAe is far more integrated in the USA than europe and possibly BREXIT will exacerbate this. Whilst a european UCAV is likely to have a UK contribution, isn't more likely that we will continue to follow the US considering we are more in sync with their ti...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft General Discussion

Because by how it is right now, Turkey and its neo-ottoman stance is a great risk to us.
Also we have to see how it ends the S-400 vs F-35 situation.

(At least for us italians)

Re: French Armed Forces

Yes the best option is UK/Jap/Ita , since it is obvious the French and German program isn't a collaboration at all, they want to lead it, and more than a collaboration it is just them splitting up the market, the fighter to the french and the drones to the germans. With France running the future fig...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

Not clear. - Danish ship is build basically on commercial standard, with some enhancements. T26 is not. And, anyhow, I am not saying 7 years is good. French FREMM is taking 5 year from laid-down to commission. T26 is "planned" to take 10 years. Not good. I guess it is just reflecting the ...

Re: Future Solid Support Ship

Wow 450mln for the Tide class? Are they built in commercial standards like the Ocean? Do you plan to do the same for the FSS? Because the 1bln looks tight for 3 ships. Just for reference ,since in your requirements you look for a bigger ship, this is what we are getting for 350€ (4 for the french 2 ...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

Actually I just imagined the French and Italian shipyards building an Astute and a Queen Elizabeth carrier and concluded neither wouldn't be able to build either in less time or at lower cost than the UK shipyards. Probably correct on the Astute since we don't have experience, but i cant speak for ...

Re: Italian Armed Forces

We paid our ones at 800€ but i remember a discussion on a forum where the estimate for the Fremm was also 800$ in confront of the 1200$ of the F-100.

But the difference looks too big imho. At the same time we have the canadian program where we offered our ship at half the price of the program cost.

Re: Italian Armed Forces

If i remember correctly around 700-800mln? Surely Gabriele or Eagle spotters have the right number.

Plus in that utopia it would mean winning hands down the Australian, canadian and USN programs meaning probably another significant discount thanks to scale economy.

How much is the difference in operational cost between a QEC and the will be LHD. Since regardless of the gap you would still have the QE how much is the true cost of the gap? Is it significant?

Any guesses?

Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion

By fitting R3 medical facilities to two enhanced Bay class ships you solve these problems. Such a ship would also be much larger (and more stable) than a dedicated R3 ship. The new Trieste in Italy will have quite extensive facilities fitted. I guess it is that size argument, plus the fact that the...

Defiance 100% agree on what you wrote, as you said we have different scenarios. No. And did you include the tranches the other Ministries paid towards the Cavour, Emp...
