Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
This is a bit of a topic but does anyone know what docks in Devonport can fit a T26? From what I understand only 8 dock will be large enough since 10 dock will be refitted for submarine work and the Frigate Refit Complex is too small. Should also fit in the combined No.11/12 dock / the lock next to...

I have noticed I can’t get x/twitter links to post has been quite annoying Was driving me mad. Particularly on phone. Actually gave up on a few posts. Only way around it is to edit the URL manually from: x.com/[URL] to twitter.com/[URL] Though I suspect at some point Musk will kill off the twitter....

Re: New Medium Helicopter [NMH] - (RAF & AAC)
Brunei and cyprus have, for years, had different fleets to the ones in the uk. Not that much unusual in this decision which has nothing to do with chinooks. The central argument of NMH was moving away from small and diverse fleets. Whatever logic might be served by having small fleets of a widely u...

Another day, and other inexplicable MoD decision. Six brand new H145s for Brunei and Cyprus. https://twitter.com/FlightGlobal/status/1722980531992777171?t=t8dw3gw2npCmFV533v90bg&s=19 Where this leaves the remainder of NMH is anyone's guess. As always, when something involves the RAF and helicopt...

Well, if MRSS is any bigger than the Albion Class they won't be dry-docking at Devonport.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
there's still a sea Harrier acting as a 'Jetty Guardian' on Princess Royal Jetty in Portsmouth. I've admired it on Google Earth! Almost tempted to suggest a historic RN warbird (non-flying) should be embarked on the global deployments. Would make a perfect backdrop and we're not exactly stuffing th...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
We don't need a big country, we need a figuratively one. The Czech could be an option, since they had soviet Aerospace industry. Like the Swedish they don't need to buy, just chip in, in order to be called European. Spain, despite being a massive long shot, would be a good fit. Eurofighter member, ...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
When type 82 was to be built to support the cva-01 carriers it was to be a class of 4 vessels, why would that change now. It was originally a class of 8 Each deployed carrier would have had 4 T82 as outer defence & 4 T12i Leander as the inner defence (all ASW capable) Correct. Four per carrier....

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
You can retain the mission bay though I think it is pointless and the towed sonar, simply have 64 vls at the front for the RN it could even retain the aft camm launchers. The missile load cost will be astronomical. A good point. I'd personally rather ditch the MK.45 than the mission bay, and in tur...

Folks, can we try to limit the 'quoting'? Maybe like a max of 1-2. The little arrow is a direct link to the original post anyhow, so the text and images don't need to be included, unless you're replying to something specific. Am I the only one who sees a correlation between germany possibly opting for GCAP and RUSI releasing an article that more money is needed? Apart from that: Germany will try to seal a GCAP participation asap if Scholz actually decides to abandon FCAS - which is still pretty unlikely imho. The rusi a...

I assume it only for nostalgia that people wish to see harrier on a QE carrier. It doesn’t really compare to the f35 Personally, I'd rather see a Stringbag! Probably got enough room for a landing and take-off, without dragging it back. We're on the verge of having three airworthy examples in the UK...

Morning! Quite right about FA2, hence the 'second gen' bit. A radar fit for a top end interceptor, not enough other improvements. Despite restarting the Shar production line. Yeh the decision to get rid of the FA2 by the RN was a bad decision - but saved money, would be good to some harriers on the deck of a QEC ! 1st time ? along with the italian F35... The type qualification efforts might not be worth the effort. Though I'd love to see it! My above tweet was actually ...
