Re: Boeing P-8A Poseidon (Future Maritime Patrol Aircraft) (RAF)
There's a limit though between supporting industry and putting the armed forces at risk by supporting industry at all costs.
Outsourcing drives efficiency and cost reduction through industrial Darwinism. If UK industry wants the work it needs to be able to do a decent job at a competitive cost.

UD acquisition is such a valuable asset to the company, arguably THE market penetration which made BAE a player in the US sector IMO.

Doubt the duel refueling probe receptor duplication could be used on other receptor only R.A.F. assist especially the future M.P.A perquirement. . Some forward thinking used for once. Re: F-35B Lightning II (RN & RAF)
It is a fantastic deal for UK industry. I worked out, with some admittedly very woolly maths, the UK could fund 48 F35's just on the tax revenues from the share of the Americans work that passes through the UK The number I've seen thrown around is £1billion per production year into the Treasury I t...

Re: F-35B Lightning II (RN & RAF)
I'd go along with that, sure. But I'd still say that claiming the UKs commitment was the driver for the expansion is misrepresenting the reality. The Pentagon want something like 120+ a year alone. The UK would be getting what less than 10% of that? (Off the top of my head). Oh yeah, the UK has got ...

Cringeworthy all the same that they play those sorts of games, the facility was built with the expansion in mind in the first place.shark bait wrote:Sucking up to your customers, putting a nice PR spin on the news. Don't need US ownership to make that happen. More political than industrial Speaking of which, Fallon has just said in Washington (hot on the heels of the P8 deal and confirmed intention for the F35s -if the price can be put right ) that if they want the UK to continue buying more and more of the k...

You said in your understanding, people talk about what the UCAV program will output as opposed to the prototype.
I read Gabs post about FCAS, all I was doing is confirming your own understanding and pointing out why that's the case - the OSA.

Re: U.K. UAV's/Drones
As I understand it when people have been talking about Taranis capabilities and what it brings to the table, they are talking about the Taranis concept rather than the current prototype airframe (which will presumably be one of a series of different prototypes). Probably because you agree to sign t...
