Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)
I don't think it can be fitted in the F-35B, due to the lift fan.

Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]
Does anyone know how many ExLS cells the RCN will have on each Type 26, each carrying 4 Sea Ceptor?

There is room for the interim system on Type 26, might have to move something elsewhere.

Re: Type 83 Destroyer (RN) [News Only]
Lockheed Martin ExLS for Sea Ceptor, is logical, cold launch allow flexibility in positioning in the ship, leaving 48 - 64 MK 41 cells for other larger missiles. A quieter ship, than Type 45, meeting NATO ASW standards, rather than Type 26. I would suggest that it is built on the Clyde, at a BAE yar...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon (RAF)
Surprised if Tempest IOC is pre 2040, add a few years on it. The only fast jet programme, with existing jets, on time and budget is the Super Hornet. A sensible proposition is additional batch of Typhoons, following the Qatar order from 2025, to maintain the current force levels, till replaced by Te...

Re: Puma Helicopter (RAF)
I think, price and support costs are more important to the government, than carrying out some roles like "used to deliver or extract small teams into confined or urban areas and provide a search and rescue response".

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
I like JohnM's thinking. To develop it further, at DSEI 2019, Babcock told me, Type 31 admidships could be stretched (is there time?) and Captas 1 or 2 (I think it was the latter) could be fitted. I presume the torpedo decoy could be fitted. There was some rumour of a batch 2 variant, which could sp...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I was thinking, initially for UAV's and Boeing MQ-25 Stingray tankers (to increase the range of the F-35B's), then the replacement of Crowsnest on the Merlin, some cross decking and then the flexibility of the F-35B replacement (with an OSD of 2048). The F-35B replacement may not be Stovl (as the US...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I don't know if the carrier design allows the carrier to be cut into two and a one to two hundred foot block inserted, which would allow the ski jump to be retained, until the F-35B leaves service, and replaced with a catapult. The above design could be designed with two catapults on the angle deck,...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
just add 12 ExLS cells in front of the Sylver launcher to recover short/medium range AA, leaving the current gun in place... There is no space, as it would limit the use of the gun. ExLS launcher, could be fitted admidships as Sea Ceptor is cold launched. The 4.5' gun, could be replaced by the 5&qu...
