Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)
Looks like additional order of Boxers might come soon(ish), but it would be less than number or of funded vehicles. More broadly, the UK has decided against procuring close to an additional 400 vehicles, despite allocating funding for 1,016 platforms last year. A reduced figure has since been declar...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon (RAF)
Considering that the third squadron of F-35 is lacking some 400 millions to be fully funded, it is hard to see how RAF could afford to get one or two additional squadrons of Typhoons without significant increase in budget that will cover for required planes, crews and facilities. And with all person...

Re: M777 Portee DVD 2016
Interesting that there is still a demand for new towed howitzers. Towed 155mm could be transported using helicopters like Chinook, there is no mobile/mounted version of it capable for this. Even mobile/mounted 105mm is probably borderline if not able at all to be transported by helicopter. And 120m...

Re: Warrior Armoured Vehicles (British Army)
Bulldog has it own replacement program which should start in 2025. Considering all current projects, I would not be surprised if it is delayed and Bulldog would still be in service past 2030, which is current out of service date.

Panzerbrigade 42 will be recreated for this, and will have one tank battalion (Panzerbataillon 203) and one battalion of the armoured infantry on Puma (Panzergrenadierbataillon 122). There are some reports that 203 battalion will be sent without tanks. This units sent 18 of their Leopards to Ukraine...

Seems like officially Warrior will serve until the end of 2030, but total numbers will decrease toward that date as Boxer and Ajax vehicles arrive to replace them.

Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)
With third F-35B squadron currently lacking 400 millions in budget, it is really hard to see how anyone could hope for RAF to get one or more F-35A squadrons. I don't think this is realistic to happen, and even if there are some money for it, IMO it would be better to spend it on fourth F-35B squadr...

Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)
892 NAS would be fitting as they already have lightning in the crest and nice motto. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTbH0TQH-jlT6xCrPz6eDll_8ow3tJUq9QOOI7BYbdY8-wSuJJNWe7Nm6aWR0NRdg86kFQ&usqp=CAU I would still prefer for the next one, if there to be one, 800 or 801 NAS. But...

Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)
I would have thought 872 Squadron would have been a better number plate 'fit', the last RN Phantom Squadron, disbanded in 1978. I guess you meant 892 NAS which was not just the last FAA squadron operating Phantons but also the only FAA frontline squadron equipped with it. 809 NAS was the last squad...

Re: Warrior Armoured Vehicles (British Army)
Boxer is modular at the mission module, so you'd have to "simply fit" the IFV mission module. So for the new turret, the budget would be need to be provided for both new module (which is not cheap at all) and turret. That doesn't sound as a good deal. If there is a need to put turret on t...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
It would appear a carrier capable Ghost Bat is being investigated, that's good, it's already in development and if a production version is procured in large numbers between the UK, Australia and the US ( possibly also Japan), it would crucially, actually be affordable. I couldn't find any news that...

Re: Warrior Armoured Vehicles (British Army)
I believe Boxer already has a version with a 30mm stabilised turret in production?? Well Lithuanian Boxers are equipped with Rafael's remote Samson Mk II turret, Germany is planing to use same remote turret as one mounted on Puma IFV, Australians are using manned Lance turret on their CRV version. ...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I agree if the US don't buy it it is done and also think it would a far outside shot to get 2 or 3 other countries to come together as even if the UK , Aus and India came together the numbers would still be to small 250 tops However if these 3 countries did come together it might make the USMC take...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Unless the USMC take on V-247 then the only other way is for us to go in with say Australia , India , maybe Spain but not alone the Perfect outcome would be USMC , UK , Australia , India Highly unlikely that any country outside US would invest into developing tiltrotor UAV. If Bell does not succeed...
